    Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for use with a digital media content environment, such as a music streaming service, for providing real-time media consumption data. As users interact with the digital media content environment using media devices, usage data that describes the characteristics of media content being streamed for playing by the media devices, is collected by a counter processor, and associated with buckets indicative of periods of time within a plurality of time windows. The usage data associated with each time window can be processed, for example to generate real-time rankings, or other type of media consumption data, for use by a reporting server. The real-time media consumption data which is reported can be used, for example, by artists, managers, media content publishers, or other type of content providers, to evaluate fast-changing media consumption trends.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products involve identifying a first IP block having a first set of IP addresses and a second IP block having a second set of IP addresses, the first set of IP addresses different from the second set of IP addresses. A first expected number of IP reassignments for the first IP block can be determined. A first number of IP reassignments between the first IP block and the second IP block can be identified. The first number of IP reassignments can be compared against the first expected number of IP reassignments. The first IP block and the second IP block can be merged into an IP allocation pool based, at least in part, on the comparison.

    Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for recommending electronic messages in a message sharing system. Users can post messages to the message sharing system. These messages from posting users are received by the system and sent to receiving users that have subscribed to the posting users. The receiving users interact with the messages in various ways, such as by sharing the messages with other users. Interaction information is received for each of the electronic messages. The interaction information includes an indication of the number of interactions with the electronic message by receiving users. A score is determined for each electronic message based on the interaction information. Electronic messages are selected for being recommended to a user or a group of users based on the scores. The recommendations are then sent to the users, enabling users to better focus their attention on messages that are likely to be interesting.

    Abstract: A system for detecting and discriminating the severity of a fall includes a mobile device configured to communicate a network, a notification module, and a wearable device configured to communicate with the mobile device, the wearable device including a fall monitor and an activity log resident on the wearable device, where the fall monitor is configured to record detected movement on the activity log. The notification module is configured to effect a selectable setting of a rate of communication between the mobile device and the wearable device based on at least part of a predetermined pattern of a fall discriminator within the activity log, where the selectable setting defines a predetermined period of communication between the mobile device and the wearable device. The fall discriminator is configured to determine when the activity log includes a notable fall event based on the predetermined pattern.
