摘要: This invention relates to an improvement in an apparatus for directing the flow of water from the penstock to the vanes of a hydraulic turbine, generally referred to as a wicket gate, and a method for making the improved wicket gate. The improved wicket gate comprises a rotatable planar body made either of a high-strength plastic material or metal, onto which a viscoelastic material is affixed. The improvement lies in the application of the viscoelastic material to the rotatable planar body in such a way that the viscoelastic material becomes an integral component of the rotatable planar body. This improvement extends the maintenance life cycle by reducing marine growth, erosion and pitting caused by cavitation.

摘要: A preparation method of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-based membrane for preventing and removing ices covering wind turbine blades is provided and the method comprises: preparing a membrane into a PTFE rod material with polymerized monomers by using monomer polymerization methods such as blending, pre-compressing and pushing; making the membrane into a PTFE-based homogeneous membrane with micropores and nano and micron scale concave-convex geometrical ultra-structure morphologies under the condition that the membrane is cracked to generate a laminar exfoliated fabric-like structure in the hot calendaring process of the PTFE rod material by using a hot calendaring and fusion polymerization method; and applying the PTFE-based homogeneous membrane to blades of a large wind turbine in operation.

摘要: A wind turbine blade includes a protective cover attached along the blade by a layer of adhesive. The adhesive is a general purpose adhesive, and the adhesive forms a joint or sealing between an outer edge of the cover section of the blade and the surface of the blade so that the outer edge is covered by the adhesive and so that the joint forms an oblique surface from the outer edge to the surface of the blade. The joint has a first height at the outer edge and a second height at the position where it ends at the surface of the blade. The second height is smaller than the first height and smaller than 0.2 millimetres, and the joint is integrally formed with the layer of adhesive.

摘要: The present subject matter is directed to methods for manufacturing rotor blades and/or components thereof of a wind turbine. In one embodiment, the method includes forming the rotor blade component and covering at least a portion of the rotor blade component with at least one coating material. In addition, the coating material includes at least one additive having a changeable pigment. After the component is formed, the method includes inspecting the rotor blade component for defects. After inspection, the method further includes activating the additive to change the pigment from a transparent finish to a colored finish.

摘要: A method of protecting slurry handling equipment is presented which involves (a) identifying one or more types of wear events (erosion, abrasion, corrosion) to which a surface of the slurry handling equipment is susceptible during operation; (b) estimating the severity of each type of wear event the surface will experience during operation; and (c) applying one or more of a thermal spray coating comprising a metal carbide or a metal nitride, and an erosion resistant organic coating to the surface. The types and severity of the wear events are predicted using one or more computational fluid dynamics models, and the application of either or both of the thermal spray coating and the erosion resistant organic coating to the surface is predicated on the types of wear events identified and their estimated severity. In addition, slurry handling equipment and components thereof protected using the method are provided.

摘要: An erosion shield for a wind turbine blade is described, the erosion shield having a plurality of layers of erosion resistant material. The layers of erosion resistant material have an adhesive bond strength between adjacent layers less than the cohesive tensile strength of the layers, such that the outer layers of erosion resistant material are arranged to peel away or delaminate from the erosion shield under the action of the wind once the particular layer is ruptured or eroded. This dynamic removal of the outer layers of the erosion shield provides for increased shield lifetime, and a reduction in the maintenance operations required for a wind turbine blade having such an erosion shield.
