    摘要: Improved methods and systems for treating wastewaters produced in mining and/or subterranean well bore operations are provided. In one embodiment, the systems comprise: an electro-coagulation unit that receives wastewater from a wastewater source, performs an electro-coagulation treatment on the wastewater using one or more EC cells, and produces a first fluid stream that comprises one or more solid materials and a liquid effluent; a solids separation unit coupled downstream of and in fluid communication with the electro-coagulation unit that separates at least a portion of the solid materials in the first fluid stream from the liquid effluent; and a filter comprising a metal-bearing filtration media coupled downstream of and in fluid communication with the solids separation unit that filters the liquid effluent from the solids separation unit to produce a treated water stream.

    摘要: A cerium (IV) oxide composition having unexpectedly greater arsenic loading capacities than oxides of cerium (IV) of the prior art are disclosed. The arsenic loading capacities are greater at low level equilibrium levels of arsenic. The cerium (IV) oxide composition is more effective at removing arsenite and arsenate. Moreover, the cerium (IV) oxide composition has a greater capacity for the previously more difficult to remove arsenite.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method for decreasing the contents of metals, metalloids, nitrate and nitrite, respectively, in raw water flowing through a basin (1), whereby water containing either oxygen, oxygen-releasing substances, naturally occurring micro-organisms and/or substrates therefore is intermittently introduced to the basin (1) through horizontally arranged infiltration/extraction means (2) above and below the injection pipes of raw water, and by alternating the withdrawal and infiltration of conditioned water between the horizontal means so that essentially a vertical flow of water is created between these means, thereby creating a reaction zone for purification of raw water before it reaches the central extraction well. The water to be purified is fed into the basin by horizontally arranged feeding pipes (5) and the extraction of purified water from said at least one extraction well (3) is such that a substantially negative pressure is created around said at least one extraction well (3). The invention relates also to an apparatus for carrying out the method.
