Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for scheduling chain design. Certain aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in a method for wireless communication. The method generally includes determining a limit associated with a quantity of a plurality of downlink control information (DCI) for each of at least one scheduling chain, each of at least one of the plurality of DCI to be transmitted on one of a plurality of data channels, and wherein each of the plurality of DCI in the scheduling chain schedules another one of the plurality of data channels; and transmitting the plurality of DCI on the plurality of data channels in accordance with the determination to a user-equipment (UE).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for reducing latency for closed loop sidelink communications for non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) are described. In some examples, a first user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a network entity, a message requesting an allocation of sidelink resources for the first UE and an allocation of sidelink resources for a second UE. The first UE may receive, from the network entity in response to the request message, an indication of a first set of sidelink resources for the first UE. In some examples, the first UE may transmit one or more data messages to the second UE, including an indication of a second set of sidelink resources, an indication that the network entity may directly allocate the second set of sidelink resources, or both. In some example, the first UE may receive one or more data messages from the second UE on the second set of sidelink resources.

Abstract: A node may activate, in each iteration of a plurality of iterations, a respective segment of a plurality of segments of an IRS of the node. Each iteration of the plurality of iterations may correspond to one segment of the plurality of segments. The apparatus may receive, from the first wireless device, an indication of a second configuration for the node to generate one or more reflected beams toward the first wireless device or the second wireless device. The second configuration may be based on an interpolation process based on a plurality of phases or phase derivatives associated with the plurality of segments. The apparatus may forward, from the first wireless device to the second wireless device or from the second wireless device to the first wireless device, communications via the IRS based on the second configuration and the one or more reflected beams.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support using one of multiple types of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to perform one or more management procedures. A base station may configure and transmit one or more SSBs of second type that are smaller than SSBs of a first type. For instance, SSBs of a second type may include a first subset of signals and may exclude a second subset of the signals that are included in an SSB of the first type. An SSB of the second type may be transmitted in an active bandwidth region used for communications between a user equipment (UE) and the base station. The UE may receive an SSB of the second type in an active bandwidth region, may perform one or more measurements using the SSB of the second type, and may perform one or more management procedures.

Abstract: Power consumption by a communication satellite may be reduced by operating in a transmission time interval (TTI) gating mode, in which an on period is provided for the satellite to transmit a reference signal (RS), control signals, and a portion of data within an on period through a forward link to a user terminal (UT), followed by an off period in which forward link transmission ceases. During the off period of the TTI, the satellite may turn off its forward link power amplifier and cease transmission of data to the UT. A gateway may send a signal enabling the TTI gating mode, as well as information specifying the TTI gating configuration, such as the length of the on or off period of the TTI, to the satellite.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a satellite system including different satellites that may belong to different types of satellite constellations. In some implementations, the satellite system may include a LEO satellite constellation and one or more non-LEO satellite constellations that can be used to increase the forward link capacity of the LEO satellite constellation, for example, by allowing an LEO satellite to offload at least some of its forward link traffic to one of the non-LEO satellites. The user terminals can dynamically switch forward link communications between a LEO satellite and a non-LEO satellite while maintaining a return link connection with the LEO satellite.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for a user terminal (UT) to transmit data to a network controller via a satellite in a satellite system. The UT may begin transmitting, during a time period, a first portion of the data using contention-based resources of the satellite system prior to receiving a grant of scheduled return link resources of the satellite system. The UT may also transmit, on the contention-based resources, a buffer status report (BSR) during the time period. The UT may terminate data transmissions on the contention-based resources after an expiration of the time period or upon receiving the grant of scheduled return link resources. After receiving the grant, the UT may transmit a second portion of the data on the scheduled return link resources.

Abstract: A communication satellite system provides for spectral efficient data transmissions by a gateway to multiple user terminals by way of a satellite. The gateway transmits multiple blocks in a single slot, each block intended for one of the user terminals, where each block is encoded and modulated according to a scheme that may be different for each intended user terminal. Upon re-transmission of a block if that block is lost or received in error, the block may be encoded and modulated according to another scheme that is less spectrally efficient than in the first transmission of the block.
