Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may release a connection with a first network entity and determine a first virtual coverage area of the UE based on a geographic location of the UE associated with the release of the connection. The UE may obtain a message that includes area information. The area information may be indicative of one or more second virtual coverage areas, which the UE may use in determining whether to monitor for a paging early indication (PEI). Based on the first virtual coverage area and the one or more second virtual coverage areas may monitor for a paging message, such as the PEI or downlink control information (DCI) associated with a paging occasion.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for reducing latency for closed loop sidelink communications for non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) are described. In some examples, a first user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a network entity, a message requesting an allocation of sidelink resources for the first UE and an allocation of sidelink resources for a second UE. The first UE may receive, from the network entity in response to the request message, an indication of a first set of sidelink resources for the first UE. In some examples, the first UE may transmit one or more data messages to the second UE, including an indication of a second set of sidelink resources, an indication that the network entity may directly allocate the second set of sidelink resources, or both. In some example, the first UE may receive one or more data messages from the second UE on the second set of sidelink resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain updated location information, and determine a time difference between a previous communication with a network and a scheduled uplink transmission. Based on the determined time difference, the UE may determine a timing advance (TA) component of a TA value to apply for the uplink transmission, and transmit an uplink message in the uplink transmission according to the determined TA value and the location information. In some examples, the time difference may be based on a first duration between the uplink transmission and a previous uplink transmission, a second duration between the uplink transmission and a previous TA command received from the network, or both. In some examples, the determined TA value may be based on additional parameters, such as an autonomous adjustment step, an aggregate adjustment rate, a scaling factor, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: Techniques are described for supporting user equipment (UE) positioning in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). To allow calculating a position/location of a UE based on reference signal (RS) measurements to and from one satellite (or a terrestrial base station), a device may be configured to calculate a doppler measurement and a range measurement and report such measurements to be used by a location server to calculate a UE position. An example device may receive a first RS (with the first RS being one of a positioning reference signal (PRS) or a sounding reference signal (SRS)), receive a second RS associated with the first RS, calculate a doppler measurement based on one or both of the first RS or the second RS, and report the doppler measurement. The doppler measurement (such as a measured frequency offset) may be used by a location server to calculate a UE position on the earth surface.

A first device may receive, from a second device, first control signaling that activates the predication capability of the first device to generate a set of one or more control parameters for communications. Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for PDSCH rate-matching in NTN systems. A UE may receive an indication of a subset of one or more SSB beams included in a set of SSB beams having one or more PDCCH resources reserved for potentially scheduling one or more SIBs associated with the set of SSB beams. The UE may further receive a PDSCH associated with resources that overlap with at least a portion of the one or more PDCCH resources associated with the indication of the subset of one or more SSB beams, and rate-match around the one or more PDCCH resources associated with the indication of the subset of one or more SSB beams for receiving the PDSCH.
