Abstract: A method for unicast communication over sidelink includes transmitting a direct communication request message from a source user equipment (UE) to one or more destination UEs. A direct communication response is received at the source UE from at least one of the one or more destination UEs, with the response including context information and a destination sidelink ID for the at least one UE. The context information of the at least one UE is stored in association with an ID pair comprising the destination sidelink ID and a source sidelink ID.

Abstract: Embodiments of an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) donor, IAB node, and methods of communication are generally described herein. An IAB network may comprise a plurality of IAB nodes to operate as relays between the IAB donor and one or more User Equipment (UE). The IAB donor may, for each of the IAB nodes, allocate a plurality of subframes to the IAB node. Each allocated subframe may have a subframe type that is one of: a downlink subframe, an uplink subframe, a flexible subframe or a not available subframe. The IAB donor may transmit, from a central unit (CU) of the IAB donor to a distributed unit (DU) an IAB node over an F1 interface, a resource coordination request message that indicates the subframe types of the plurality of subframes.

Abstract: Embodiments of a next generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. A gNB may be configurable to operate as a master gNB (MgNB). The MgNB may transmit radio-resource control (RRC) signaling to provide information for dual connectivity to allow the UE to utilize radio resources of both a master cell group (MCG) associated with the MgNB and a secondary cell group (SCG) associated with a secondary gNB (SgNB). The MgNB may transmit, to the SgNB, an SgNB release request message that indicates a partial suspension of the dual connectivity, wherein: a first portion of a configuration for the SCG is to be maintained and a second portion of the configuration for the SCG is to be released.

The UE may receive, from a gNB, configuration information related to a 2-step random access (RA) procedure between the UE and the gNB in unlicensed spectrum. The 2-step RA procedure may include: an uplink MsgA message that includes, within a random access occasion (RO), a MsgA preamble and a MsgA payload; and a downlink MsgB message that includes, within another RO, a MsgB PDCCH and a MsgB payload. The configuration information may indicate: resources allocated for the MsgA preamble; and a mapping between the resources allocated for the MsgA preamble and the MsgA payload. The UE may determine the resources allocated for the MsgA payload based on the resources allocated for the MsgA preamble and the mapping.

Abstract: 5G methods and architectures to determine active SCells and their bandwidth parts (BWP) used in carrier aggregation (CA) are disclosed in which activating a BWP for an active SCell is performed initially according to a default value provided in initial radio resource control (RRC) messaging. After initialization, SCells and the SCell BWPs used by the user equipment (UE) are activated by RRC messaging, downlink control information (DCI) or dedicated medium access control (MAC) control elements (MAC CEs) with the initial BWP used for an activated SCell being a default value provided during initialization.

A processor is coupled to the system control module and is arranged to implement an inactivity timer and an on-duration timer for determining an active time for monitoring subframes on the physical downlink control channel for control signals, the processor further monitoring subframes after the active time.

Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to enable User Equipment (UE) to switch between Radio Access Technologies (RATs) while transitioning from an inactive state to an active state. For example. a UE may connect to a base station via one type of RAT (e.g., Long-Term Evolution (LTE) RAT), enter an inactive state, and later, while transitioning from the inactive state to an active state, connect to another base station via another type of RAT (e.g., a New Radio (NR) or 5th Generation (5G) RAT). The UE may transition from one RAT to another RAT without increasing signaling between the UE and the network beyond minimal signaling involved in a transition of the UE from the inactive state to an active state. The network may further minimize signaling by determining and communicating minimized connection configuration information to the UE.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to support dual-connectivity with a Master Evolved Node-B (MeNB) and a Secondary eNB (SeNB) are disclosed herein. The UE may receive downlink traffic packets from the MeNB and from the SeNB as part of a split data radio bearer (DRB). At least a portion of control functionality for the split DRB may be performed at each of the MeNB and the SeNB. The UE may receive an uplink eNB indicator for an uplink eNB to which the UE is to transmit uplink traffic packets as part of the split DRB. Based at least partly on the uplink eNB indicator, the UE may transmit uplink traffic packets to the uplink eNB as part of the split DRB. The uplink eNB may be selected from a group that includes the MeNB and the SeNB.

Abstract: User equipment (UE) handover (HO) techniques for reducing or eliminating interruption time during an HO process are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may include at least one memory and logic for an evolved node B (eNB), at least a portion of the logic comprised in hardware coupled to the at least one memory. The logic may be operative to forward downlink (DL) data received from a serving gateway (SGW) to user equipment (UE), transmit a handover command to the UE to trigger execution of a handover (HO) process to handover the UE to a target eNB, continue forwarding at least a portion of the DL data to the UE following transmission of the handover command, and terminate transmission of the DL data to the UE responsive to detecting a stop DL data event. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
