Abstract:
There is provided a method of extracting material from a fluid method of extracting material from a fluid, the fluid being held within a fluid chamber. The method comprises drawing, with a magnetic field generating system, at least one magnetically susceptible member through the fluid around a closed path between at least three points in the chamber, said at least one member being adapted to bind to material in fluid in the chamber. The at least three points are arranged relative to each other in a shape having at least two dimensions, the magnetic field generating system being configured to move the at least on magnetically susceptible member directly between the at least three points, material in the fluid binding to the at least one magnetically susceptible member when it comes into contact with the at least one member as it moves through the fluid.
Abstract:
Antibodies, immunoassay methods and kits for the detection and determination of 3,4-dichloro-N-[(1-(dimethylamino)cyclohexyl)methyl]benzamide and 3,4-dichloro-N-[(1-(methylamino)cyclohexyl)methyl]benzamide, as well as the precursory immunogens, are described.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multiplexing system comprising a support substrate having immobilised thereto one or more of the following proteins, fragments thereof or a binding molecule, wherein the binding molecule binds specifically to one of the following proteins: E-FABP, B-FABP, IL-FABP, I-FABP, M-FABP, A-FABP, H-FABP, L-FABP or T-FABP. Another aspect is directed to a method for characterising the pattern of FABP antigens existing within a biological sample to reveal information useful in the diagnosis or disease or injury.
Abstract:
The present invention provides biomarker-based methods for diagnosing stroke in a patient suspected of having suffered a stroke, and also for discriminating between ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack. Substrates comprising probes for specific combinations of biomarkers useful in the methods of the invention are also described.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method for identifying whether a subject is more or less likely to be responsive to VEGF-based therapy, comprising screening a nucleic acid sample obtained from the subject to provide output information which identifies the presence or absence of an allelic variant, wherein the presence or absence of an allelic variant indicates whether the subject is more or less likely to be responsive to VEGF-based therapy.
Abstract:
A method for the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) or Parkinson's Disease (PD), including measuring the level of expression of one or more AD markers (Table 1) or PD markers (Table 2) in a sample of platelets isolated from a person suspected of having AD or PD, and determining whether the levels of expression are altered compared to a control.
Abstract:
Novel haptens, which can be conjugated to form immunogens, are of formula I, II or III 1 wherein R is a divalent alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and X is a functional group.
Abstract:
A spin-trapping assay for nitric oxide, in a biological system such as whole blood, uses as the spin trap a lipid-soluble nitrobenzene compound such as 2,6-dimethylnitrosobenzene.
Abstract:
A biochip deposition system and method. The system comprises a deposit mechanism for depositing organic material in spots on a substrate; and a viewing system for detecting the spots on the substrate during a deposit operation and before the spots have dried, for determining if the spots have been correctly deposited, and if not, for generating a suitable output signal. The viewing system includes an illumination device for illuminating deposited spots at a relatively low angle relative to the substrate.
Abstract:
An assay cartridge for use in a molecular diagnostics assay having an assay region; a first end comprising a first engagement member for engaging with a support housing; and a second end comprising a second engagement member for engaging with a support housing. The second engagement member has a clip, the clip being formed by a resilient element extending from the second end of the cartridge and a fastening element extending from said resilient element. The clip has a release element extending from the resilient element actuatable to release the clip from a caddy in use.
