摘要: A system for processing cyclic signal pairs generated by an optical transducer to provide an accurate measurement of the displacement of one member with respect to a reference is suitable for determining weight by measuring spring scale tare deflection. The system includes a pair of comparator Schmitt trigger circuits for shaping pulse waveform signals. The pulse signals are processed by fully clocked digital circuits including edge discriminators to generate multiple count pulses which are processed by combination logic for direction determination. Further processing includes sign determination (positive-negative) and zero identification circuits to provide up and down pulses which are filtered and fed to up/down counter stages. Counter stage information is decoded for feedback control and processing logic indication. The zero identification circuit facilitates an unambiguous zero reference indication by skipping one count at zero to provide a display sign change indication on either side of zero prior to incrementing display counts to better define true zero as an edge or line between successive displays rather than as a zone. In an alternate embodiment, zero transition indicators are provided by feeding the count pulses directly to an up/down counter and utilizing the most significant counter bit to invert the counter outputs upon a transition through actual zero.

摘要: A system for replacing obsolete postal rate data with new data used by a remote mail processing apparatus comprises a central data processor for generating the new data. An encoder translates the new data into electronic tone signals which are transmitted to the remote apparatus by, for example, telephone transmission lines. The electronic tone signals are translated back into new data by a decoder. A memory incorporated in the remote apparatus is equipped to store obsolete or new data at a plurality of storage locations and a programming transfer controller, which interconnects the decoder and memory, sequentially addresses each of the locations storing obsolete data, erases the obsolete data, and loads new data into the addressed location.

摘要: A delayed latch strobe generator for a display on a monitor used to service digital logic systems wherein time-based or event-based latch strobes are generated. A device on the monitor can be pre-set by a user to select the interval between the system latch strobe and the delayed latch strobe. When the normal latch strobe occurs, a binary counter is enabled. This counter is then incremented by system clock pulses. An exclusive-NOR comparator continually compares the counter contents with the setting of the user-controlled device. A match, which indicates the interval has elapsed, results in the generation of a delayed latch strobe which is applied to the display.

摘要: A method that enables the post to deliver letters, flats, post cards and packages (mail) addressed to a recipient's virtual post office box and then to be delivered directly to the recipient. The process enables individuals or entities to rent a virtual post office (VPO) box i.e., a box that does not physically exist, from the post office (“post”). Mail addressed to the virtual post office box would be captured by the post during the post's sortation process and rerouted to the specified address of the renter of the virtual post office box.

摘要: An apparatus is operable to communicate fluid. An exemplary apparatus comprises a housing and a fluid reservoir within the housing. An actuator is operationally engaged with the fluid reservoir. The actuator is operable to effect communication of fluid from or into the fluid reservoir. A sensor is in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir. The sensor is operable to sense a physical parameter of fluid that is in communication with the fluid reservoir as the fluid is communicated from or into the fluid reservoir. An indicator is in communication with the sensor. The indicator is operable to display the physical parameter sensed by the sensor. The apparatus may be used to inject fluid into or withdraw fluid from an implanted gastric band system or for a variety of other uses. Fluid pressure may be adjusted and sensed, and resulting data may be displayed, by a single, integrated instrument.

摘要: An implantable restriction device is configured to provide a restriction in a patient as a function of the pressure of fluid. The implantable restriction device includes one or more pressure sensors configured to sense pressure of the fluid within the implantable restriction device. Pressure data obtained by the one or more pressure sensors may be communicated to a device located external to the patient, which may process the pressure data, and may further provide a display to a user including information relating to the processed pressure data. Where the implantable restriction device comprises an adjustable gastric band, the one or more pressure sensors may be located in any number of the following locations: an injection port, an interface between the injection port and a catheter, in a catheter, in-line with a catheter, adjacent to a catheter, in a gastric band, in a gastric band buckle, or elsewhere.
