摘要: The present invention relates to a reflux disease treatment apparatus, comprising two or more movement restriction device segments adapted to form an implantable movement restriction device with an elongated shape that maintains cardia in the correct position. The movement restriction device has proximal and a distal end, wherein the distal end is adapted to stabilize and hold the proximal end. The invention further comprises a control device for controlling the stimulation device to stimulate the cardia sphincter. The distal end can be further adapted to treat obesity, for example by stretching the wall of the stomach or filling out a volume of the stomach.

摘要: A method for affixing a fundus portion of the stomach of a human patient to the patient's esophagus is disclosed. The method comprises folding the fundus portion towards the esophagus such that the fundus portion rests against the esophagus, from the angle of His and upwards along the esophagus, and affixing the fundus portion to the esophagus by means of fasteners arranged along a first line and a second line. The first line and the second line extend along the esophagus and are arranged such that a distance between the first line and the second line increases with an increasing distance from the angle of His. The method can be used for invaginating a movement restriction device by the fundus, a position between the diaphragm and the cardiac sphincter to hinder the cardia from sliding through the diaphragm opening into the patient's thorax.

摘要: An apparatus for the treatment of acid reflux disease comprising two or more movement restriction device segments adapted to be assembled movement restriction device of a controlled size. The assembled movement restriction device can at least partly be invaginated by a patient's stomach fundus wall. A substantial part of the outer surface of the movement restriction device is adapted to rest against the stomach wall without injuring the latter in a position between the patient's diaphragm and at least a portion of the lower part of the invaginated stomach fundus wall, such that movement of the cardiac notch of the patient's stomach towards the patient's diaphragm is restricted, to thereby prevent the cardia from sliding through the patient's diaphragm opening into the patient's thorax, so as to maintain the supporting pressure against the patient's cardia sphincter muscle exerted from the patient's abdomen.

摘要: Apparatuses and methods for corrective guidance of eating behavior of a patient equipped with a gastric restriction device. The apparatus provides continuous monitoring or one or more parameters related to food passing through the gastric restriction device. Each monitored parameter is processed to provide a visual indication of the current eating behavior. The visual indication is used as input to the patient or a caregiver to modify the eating behavior. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes an emergency relief mechanism that automatically relieves excess pressure developing in the gastric restriction device. In some embodiments, the apparatus is enabled to deliver an appetite suppressant to modify the eating behavior.

摘要: The invention relates to an intraluminar method of treating a reflux disease in a patient by implanting a device comprising an movement restriction device that, when implanted in a patient, fills a volume in the patient's abdomen that is close to and at least partially above the patient's cardia when the patient is in a standing position. The invention further relates to a method of restoring the location of the cardia in a patient suffering from a reflux disease and to an instrument suitable to use with intraluminar method and/or restoration method. Also disclosed are instruments treating a patient suffering hiatal hernia and providing a movement restriction device to be invaginated in the stomach fundus wall.

摘要: An inflatable, adjustable gastric band includes a flexible, hollow, resilient band; and a flexible inflation tube connected to the band and complementary closing means that are capable of mutually engaging so as to lock a ring in a closed position. The ring formed by bringing the distal end and the proximal end of the band together into a slipknot. The hollow band has, in an inoperative position, a preformed curved portion which is extended, by a substantially rectilinear portion, from the proximal end area thereof to the free distal end of the band. The substantially rectilinear portion being suitable for facilitating the insertion of the proximal end of the tube through the loop(s) of the band, and in that the hollow band has, on the outer wall thereof, two loops, said loops being arranged on the substantially rectilinear portion of the hollow band.
