    摘要: An electronic scale performs a post-weighing calibration in which the user steps on the scale, and the scale provides an estimated weight based on the scale's stored tare weight determined after the previous weighing performed by the scale. The person steps off of the scale while the estimated weight is displayed, and the scale automatically performs the calibration process to determine the scale's tare weight and verifies the weight. The estimated weight is shown with an orange ellipsis, and the verified weight is shown with a green checkmark. The scale compares the stored tare weight with the new tare weight, and if the difference between the stored tare weight and the new tare weight is within a variation threshold, the scale identifies the weight as being verified. If the difference exceeds the variation threshold, the scale recalculates the weight, displays the corrected weight, and produces a tone as an alert.

    摘要: A system for processing cyclic signal pairs generated by an optical transducer to provide an accurate measurement of the displacement of one member with respect to a reference is suitable for determining weight by measuring spring scale tare deflection. The system includes a pair of comparator Schmitt trigger circuits for shaping pulse waveform signals. The pulse signals are processed by fully clocked digital circuits including edge discriminators to generate multiple count pulses which are processed by combination logic for direction determination. Further processing includes sign determination (positive-negative) and zero identification circuits to provide up and down pulses which are filtered and fed to up/down counter stages. Counter stage information is decoded for feedback control and processing logic indication. The zero identification circuit facilitates an unambiguous zero reference indication by skipping one count at zero to provide a display sign change indication on either side of zero prior to incrementing display counts to better define true zero as an edge or line between successive displays rather than as a zone. In an alternate embodiment, zero transition indicators are provided by feeding the count pulses directly to an up/down counter and utilizing the most significant counter bit to invert the counter outputs upon a transition through actual zero.

    摘要: An optical detection system for a weighing scale includes an apparatus for generating a moire fringe. Unlike prior moire-type systems, however, the present scale is constructed with a substantially rigid tare, so that movement of the moire is limited to only a portion of one fringe line. Movement of the tare, and the pan carrying the load, are visually not apparent. Response time is greatly enhanced by the inventive system and accuracy is improved due to minimized hysteresis loss. The invention detects an optical shifting of the fringe line, rather than a counting of a number of fringe lines as with prior highly deflective scale systems.

    摘要: A digital scale having an incremental measuring system is disclosed. The scale includes a source of light, a weightindicating movable grid and a stationary grid all in optical alignment, the two grids having alternately disposed transparent and nontransparent vertical surfaces, wherein the upper portions of said surfaces on the stationary grid are slightly offset from the lower portions thereof. Photoelectric means produce a series of leading and lagging electrical signals when the movable grid moves in response to a load placed on the scale, the signals from the upper portions of the stationary grid leading when the weight indicated by the movable grid is increasing, and the signals from the lower portions leading when the weight is decreasing. An electrical discriminator discerns which signals are leading, and converts them to electrical impulses which are passed to a countup-countdown counter for recording the weight. Testing circuitry, which determines when the scale is substantially still, produces electrical information for energizing digital means, connected to the counter at that time. During substantial movement of the scale, however, the testing circuit prevents the digital means from being energized, thereby assuring weight readings only when the scale is substantially still.
