Abstract:
A computer readable storage medium has executable instructions to select a plurality of macroblocks in a video sequence to be coded as anchor macroblocks, the anchor macroblocks distributed across the video sequence and facilitating random access decoding of a portion of the video sequence. The video sequence is coded into a bit stream. Auxiliary information associated with the anchor macroblocks is generated. The auxiliary information associated with the anchor macroblocks is inserted in a supplementary section of the bit stream.
Abstract:
The present invention provides aqueous viscoelastic compositions comprising a cleavable anionic surfactant which is a sulphonate and possibly also an electrolyte. The cleavable surfactants useful in the present invention comprise a chemical bond, which is capable of being broken under appropriate conditions, to produce oil soluble and water soluble products typically having no interfacial properties and surface activity compared with the original surfactant molecule. Further, the rheological properties of the aqueous viscoelastic composition are usually altered upon cleavage of the cleavable surfactant generally resulting in the elimination of the viscosifying, viscoelastic and surfactant properties of the composition. Aqueous viscoelastic compositions in accordance with the present invention are suitable for use in oil-field applications, particularly for hydraulic fracturing of subterranean formations. Thus, the present invention also relates to a wellbore service fluid and a method of fracturing a subterranean formation.
Abstract:
A method of providing papilloma virus like particles which may be used for diagnostic purposes or for incorporation in a vaccine for use in relation to infections caused by papilloma virus. The method includes an initial step of constructing one or more recombinant DNA molecules which each encode papilloma virus L1 protein or a combination of papilloma virus L1 protein and papilloma virus L2 protein followed by a further step of transfecting a suitable host cell with one or more of the recombinant DNA molecules so that virus like particles (VLPs) are produced within the cell after expression of the L1 or combination of L1 and L2 proteins. The VLPs are also claimed per se as well as vaccines incorporating the VLPs.
Abstract:
A StatMux system and method are provided for efficiently allocating time slots on the transmission channel between bit streams representing video and bit streams representing data. By providing such a system and method, when a decreased number of data bits need to be transmitted, a decreased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting the data bits and an increased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting video bits. When a decreased number of video bits needs to be transmitted, a decreased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting video bits and an increased number of time slots may be allocated for transmitting data bits.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for imaging and the treatment of cancer. In certain embodiments, a polyarginine (e.g., R11) may be used to selectively image prostate or bladder cells (e.g., a metastatic prostate cancer). In other embodiments, a DOC-2/DAB2 peptide, optionally conjugated to a cell permeable peptide (e.g., R11) may be used to treat a cancer, such as prostate cancer.
Abstract:
An invoking request processing method in distributed system. The method makes a judgment according to the interface performance of an invoking object, and transforming an invoking request being sent to an intermediate object into a transferring request, which makes the intermediate object only needing to perform the transferring operation for the invoking request. The actual implemental object directly returns the result to the requesting party. And an corresponding distributed system, distributed server and object implementing module are provided. The requesting party may directly obtain the implement result from the actual implemental object by launching only one invocation, which enhanced the requesting efficiency. Meanwhile the intermediate object only needs to implement the transferring interface, which simplifies the development difficulty of the intermediate object.
Abstract:
A system and method for collecting and processing user data over a network relating to a given advertisement. The invention displays advertisements on a given web page to a user running a web browser application on a client. In response to a user action such as clicking on the advertisement or moving the mouse cursor over the advertisement, a form is displayed to the user for input of data. The user may then input data into the form, and receive a new advertisement in the same location as the old advertisement upon completing the form. At no point is the user redirected to a new web page, nor does a new web page “pop up” over or under the current web page. The user inputted data is checked for accuracy and completeness, and may either be sent to the advertiser immediately or stored for future transmission. This data collection, processing, and delivery is all handled by the real-time communication within the original web page context. Advertisements selected for display are targeted to the user based on a variety of factors.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a procedure for bottom-up fill of electroless copper film in sub-micron integrated circuit features. By repeatedly placing an integrated circuit wafer in an electroless bath, a transient period of time of accelerated growth in the feature is repeated to achieve many small layers of deposition, each of which is thicker near the base of the feature. The net result is filing of the feature from the bottom-up fill without formation of voids. The electroless bath employed to form the continuous electroless copper film may include a reducing agent, a complexing agent, a source of copper ions, a pH adjuster, and optionally one or more surfactants and/or stabilizers.
Abstract:
A method is provided for determining cellular electrical potentials using a state estimator. The state estimator is generated using at least an electrical source model and an electrical conduction model. One or more parameters or states of the state estimator are adjusted based on a measured electrocardiographic and/or a measured body-surface-potential signal. The electrical potential of one or more cells is determined based on the one or more adjusted parameters or states. In one aspect of the present technique, one or more representations of an organ comprising the one or more cells is generated such that the electrical potential or its deriving characteristic of the one or more cells is visually indicated.
Abstract:
A method of constructing a synthetic polynucleotide, the method including selecting a first codon of a parent polynucleotide that encodes a polypeptide for replacement with a synonymous codon, wherein the synonymous codon is selected on the basis that it exhibits a higher translational efficiency in an epithelial cell of a mammal than the first codon in a comparison of translational efficiencies of codons in test cells of the same type as the epithelial cell; and replacing the first codon with the synonymous codon to construct the synthetic polynucleotide.
