Abstract: A method performed by a user equipment, UE, is disclosed. The method comprises determining (402) in response to an event (401) that triggers the UE to perform an access request to a radio access network, RAN, an access category to apply. The UE performs a barring check (403), applying the access category. Upon determining that access is not barred based on the access category, the UE sends (405) the access request to a network node in the RAN, the access request including the access category. The network node decides whether to accept or reject the access request based on the access category.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

The handover command message includes parameters required for deriving a security context associated with the target access node. The UE establishes (502) a radio connection with the target access node. When detecting (503) that a security context switching criterion is fulfilled, the UE stops (504) to use a security context associated with the source access node.

Abstract: Handling of UE capability information in a mobile telecommunications network wherein an eNodeB receives information regarding the UE capability information from the UE and stores the information. The eNodeB sends the UE capability information to the EPC, i.e., to an MME, which receives and stores the UE capability information. When the UE transits from idle to active state, does an initial attach, or when a part of the UE capabilities have changed, it sends a message to the eNodeB regarding the update. The eNodeB forwards the message to the MME, which sends a response associated with the previously stored UE capability information to the eNodeB. The eNodeB decides whether the UE capabilities stored in the MME is up-to-date based on the message from the UE and the response from the MME. If the UE holds updated UE capabilities the eNodeB can request updated UE capability information from the UE.

Abstract: A user equipment (110A), an application managing function (130) and methods therein for managing a message transferable over a radio interface of the user equipment (110A) are disclosed. The user equipment (110A) receives (310) a configuration comprising a set of service identifiers mapped to a set of barring categories. Moreover, the user equipment (110A) receives (320) a set of barring parameters mapped to the set of barring categories. The user equipment (110A) also obtains (330) a service identifier associated with the message. Next, the user equipment (110A) determines (340), based on the configuration, a barring category that is mapped to the service identifier. The user equipment (110A) determines (350) a barring parameter that is mapped to the barring category. Then, the user equipment (110A) manages (360) a transfer of the message over the radio interface according to the barring parameter. Corresponding computer programs and computer program carriers are also disclosed.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for establishing and maintaining backhaul connections between small cell radio base stations and a core network. In particular it relates to methods using a client to manage the backhaul connection. According to one aspect, the method relates to receiving, from the small cell RBS, at least one message triggering the establishment of the wireless backhaul connection between the small cell RBS and the core network. The method further comprises deriving, from the at least one message, base station property information of the small cell RBS. The method further comprises sending, to a core network node, a connectivity request message, including the derived base station property information thereby enabling a selection of a packet gateway and/or a configuration for the small cell RBS in the establishment of the wireless backhaul connection. The disclosure also relates to a method performed in a core network node and to a corresponding client and core network node.
