Abstract:
Methods for manufacturing glass articles having a target effective coefficient of thermal expansion CTETeff averaged over a temperature range comprise selecting a glass core composition having an average core glass coefficient of thermal expansion CTEcore that is greater than the target effective CTETeff and a glass clad composition having an average clad glass coefficient of thermal expansion CTEclad that is less than the target effective CTETeff; and manufacturing a glass laminate comprising a glass core layer formed from the glass core composition and two or more glass cladding layers fused to the glass core layer, each of the two or more glass cladding layers formed from the glass clad composition such that a ratio of a thickness of the glass core layer to a total thickness of the two or more glass cladding layers is selected to produce the glass laminate having an effective coefficient of thermal expansion CTEeff that is within ±0.5 ppm/° C. of the target effective CTETeff.
Abstract:
A process includes providing a base substrate and disposing a precursor on the base substrate. The precursor includes powdered particles of a first material and an organic binder. The process includes photo-thermally treating the precursor to form a light extraction layer. The photo-thermal treatment includes exposing the precursor to a flash lamp that is energized in pulses. The process further includes disposing an organic light emitting diode adjacent to the light extraction layer.

Abstract:
Methods of modifying glass-ceramic articles and glass-ceramic articles formed therefrom. The methods include providing a glass-ceramic article having a non-damaged surface, applying a chemical etching solution to the non-damaged surface, and removing the chemical etching solution. The chemical etching solution modifies the non-damaged surface so that from about 0.01 μm to about 2 μm of a depth of the glass-ceramic article is removed. The chemical etching solution modifies the non-damage surface of the glass-ceramic article to form a roughened surface having a reduced gloss value and a target roughness value.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provide for: a glass substrate having first and second opposing surfaces, and a plurality of edge surfaces extending transversely between the first and second opposing surfaces; a layer disposed on, and adhered to, at least one of the first, second, and edge surfaces of the substrate, where the layer includes: (i) one of an oligomer and resin; (ii) a monomer; and (iii) nanometer-sized silica particles of at least about 2-50 weight percent.
Abstract:
Embodiments are related generally to display devices, and more particularly to displays or display tiles having electrodes that extend from a first surface to a second surface of a substrate.

Abstract:
Described herein are coating compositions for protecting one-glass solution (OGS) glasses and other display glasses during processing. The coatings are non-reactive to typical indium-tin oxide touch components, metal electrodes, and black matrix inks, and can thus be used to over-coat these materials. In one aspect, the coating compositions described herein can be applied by a screen printing application process in a single layer or in multiple layers and are compatible with CNC edge grinding and acid etching. Further, the protective coatings are rigid, but not brittle, and are durable but still able to be processed rapidly. Additionally, the protective coatings are transparent, allowing alignment marks on the substrates to be visible. Finally, the protective coatings can easily be removed after substrate processing has been completed.
Abstract:
A glass etching medium and a method for etching the surface of a glass sheet to modify surface flaw characteristics without degrading the optical quality of the sheet surface, wherein the etching medium is a thickened aqueous acidic fluoride-containing paste comprising at least one dissolved, water-soluble, high-molecular-weight poly (ethylene oxide) polymer thickener.
Abstract:
A glass article having a low level of grainy appearance that can appear to have a shift in the pattern of the grains with changing viewing angle of a display, or “sparkle.” The glass article—which, in some embodiments, is a transparent glass sheet—has small-angle-scattering properties and/or distinctness-of-reflected-image (DOI), leading to improved viewability in display applications, especially under high ambient lighting conditions. In some embodiments, the antiglare surface of the glass sheet is an etched surface, with no foreign coating present on the antiglare surface.
