摘要: A power amplifier has a number n of power cells Ai, a number n of output transmission lines TL1i for combining output powers from the power cells, and a number n of impedance transformation network ITNi, where i=1, . . . n. The number n of output transmission lines are connected in series. The output terminal of each power cells is connected to its output transmission line via its impedance transformation network. Each impedance transformation network is an upward impedance transformation network for transforming an output impedance of each power cell at the input terminal of the impedance transformation network into a higher impedance at the output terminal of the impedance transformation network. A number n of input transmission lines TL0i (i=1, 2 . . . n)=connected in series. The input terminal of the i-th power cell is connected to the second terminal of the i-th transmission line via a capacitor, where i=1, . . . n.

摘要: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry with a baseband processor, a transceiver, and an antenna. The transceiver may include a mixer that outputs signals to a transimpedance amplifier. The mixer has an output impedance that varies depending on the frequency of operation. An adjustable resistance can be coupled to the input of the transimpedance amplifier. A control circuit can tune the adjustable resistance to compensate for changes in the output impedance of the mixer as the transceiver operates across a wide range of frequencies.

摘要: A distributed amplifier (DA) is disclosed. The DA includes a first plurality of inductive elements coupled in series forming a first plurality of connection nodes. The DA also includes a second plurality of inductive elements coupled in series forming a second plurality of connection nodes. The DA further includes a plurality of amplifier cells that each has a main transistor and a cascode transistor coupled into a cascode configuration. The cascode transistor has a current input coupled to a corresponding one of the first plurality of connection nodes. An input transistor has a control terminal coupled to a corresponding one of the second plurality of connection nodes, a current input terminal configured to provide a bias tuning for the DA, and a third current output terminal coupled to a control terminal of the main transistor and configured to provide a separate bias tuning for the DA.

摘要: A broadband distributed amplifier comprised of a plurality of field effect transistors whose gates are connected to junctions between serially-connected inductors forming a gate transmission line, whose drains are connected to junctions between serially-connected inductors forming a drain transmission line, and whose sources are connected to ground. The distribution of the amplifier stages along the gate and drain transmission lines is effected such that these transmission lines are periodically loaded by their own impedances and by the transistor gate and drain capacitances, thus forming artificial lines, and such that a microwave frequency input signal applied to the input of the gate transmission line effects the production of an amplified microwave frequency output signal at the output of the drain transmission line. The gate and drain transmission line output and input, respectively, are terminated by loads. The drain transmission line input only includes biasing means, whereas the gate transmission line output includes means for compensating for the characteristic impedance variations of the artificial line as a function of the frequency.

摘要: A charge coupled distributed amplifier comprises a first plurality of charge storage wells arranged along a first selected line, a second plurality of charge storage wells arranged along a second selected line, and a multiplicity of amplifier means, each amplifier means electrically coupling one charge storage well in the first plurality of wells to a corresponding charge storage well in the second plurality of wells. Charges are driven along the first and second pluralities of charge storage wells in synchronization. The same charge in the first plurality of charge storage wells creates an additional increment of charge in each charge storage well connected to the output of each amplifier means which adds in that well to the previously accumulated charge in the second plurality of charge storage wells. Thus a given amount of input charge is amplified coherently to produce a detectable output signal.

摘要: A distributed amplification device with p inputs, p outputs, p amplification paths comprises a redundant reservoir of n amplifiers including n-p back-up amplifiers, an input redundancy ring and an output redundancy ring formed by rotary switches, the input and output redundancy rings sharing the same technology. The internal amplification pathways associated with the n-p back-up amplifiers frame in an interlaced manner the internal amplification pathways associated with the p nominal amplifiers and the amplification paths of the routing configurations each pass through at least five rotary switches. The input and output redundancy rings are topologically and geometrically configured and the family of the routing configurations is chosen such that the electrical lengths of all the paths of one and the same routing configuration of the family are equal.
