摘要: A drive system of a plug-in hybrid vehicle includes: an internal combustion engine; an electrical machine; an electrochemical storage device, which is configured to supply the electrical machine with electrical energy; and a conditioning system. The conditioning system is configured to precondition the electrochemical storage device and has an electric heating element. the conditioning system is configured, before the start of a journey, to activate a preconditioning function of the internal combustion engine and to preheat a coolant of the internal combustion engine by time-controlled activation of the electric heating element.

摘要: A heater comprises a combustion chamber and a jacket extending about the combustion chamber. There is a fan having an output which communicates with the combustion chamber to provide combustion air. There is also a fuel delivery system having a variable delivery rate. A burner assembly is connected to the combustion chamber. The burner assembly has a burner mounted thereon adjacent the combustion chamber. The burner receives fuel from the fuel delivery system. There is an exhaust system extending from the combustion chamber. An oxygen sensor is positioned in the exhaust system to detect oxygen content of exhaust gases. There is a control system operatively coupled to the oxygen sensor and the fuel delivery system. The control system controls the delivery rate of the fuel delivery system according to the oxygen content of the exhaust gases.

摘要: An auxiliary heating system comprising interconnected piping which forms a closed fluid flow circuit for permitting a passage of coolant therein, and having formed chamber openings along a length thereof to receive at least one heating element which projects into the closed fluid flow circuit to be in direct contact with, and heat, the coolant. A pump is provided for circulating the coolant, along with a flow switch for monitoring flow of the coolant through the closed fluid flow circuit, wherein if the flow has ceased through the closed fluid flow circuit, the flow switch instructs the system to deactivate the heating elements.

The system further includes a pump that pumps engine coolant that has exited the thermal storage expansion tank back into the thermally insulated interior volume of the thermal storage expansion tank and forces air out of the thermal storage expansion tank to store coolant in the thermally insulated interior volume when the engine is off.

摘要: An exhaust gas heat recovery (EGHR) system for a vehicle is configured to selectively distribute a fluid heated by engine exhaust through a coolant path for heating an engine, a transmission and a battery during cold operating conditions until a desired operating temperature is reached. In response to receiving one or more heating requests from the engine, transmission and/or battery, a controller distributes the fluid through the coolant path according to a priority level for each heating request received, wherein the priority level for each heating request may be based on current vehicle operating conditions and/or driver demand.

In one example, a method may include selecting a specific mode of operation of an engine exhaust system with the heat exchanger based on engine operating conditions and an estimated fuel efficacy factor. The fuel efficiency factor may take into account fuel efficacy benefits from EGR and exhaust heat recovery.
