摘要: A thermal management system includes an electric coolant pump, power source, and controller. The pump is in fluid communication with a heat source and a radiator, and has pump sensors for determining a pump voltage, speed, and current. The battery energizes the sensors. The controller receives the voltage, speed, and current from the sensors, determines a performance of the pump across multiple operating regions, calculates a numeric state of health (SOH) quantifying degradation severity for each of a plurality of pump characteristics across the regions, and executes a control action when the calculated numeric SOH for any region is less than a calibrated SOH threshold. The pump characteristics include pump circuit, leaking/clogging, bearing, and motor statuses. A vehicle includes an engine or other heat source, a radiator; and the thermal management system. The controller may execute a prognostic method for the electric coolant pump in the vehicle.

摘要: An engine cooling system is provided with an internal combustion engine defining a head cooling jacket and a block cooling jacket in a split flow configuration. A first thermostat is positioned at an outlet of the block cooling jacket and configured to control coolant flow therethrough. A second thermostat is positioned to receive coolant flow from the first thermostat and the head cooling jacket. The first and second thermostats are in a thermostat assembly within a housing. In response to coolant temperature being below a first threshold, a first and a second thermostat downstream of the engine in a thermostat assembly are closed such that coolant flows through a head jacket and the thermostat assembly to a pump, and such that coolant in the head jacket entrains a trickle flow of coolant from a block jacket through an interbore cooling passage, thereby cooling an interbore region.

摘要: An engine ECU executes a program including a step of calculating intensity values LOG(V) based on signals transmitted from a knock sensor; a step of deciding a maximum value V(MAX) in frequency distribution of intensity values LOG(V) for N cycles (N is a natural number); a step of calculating a knock determination level V(KD) based on the frequency distribution; a step of, when the knock determination level V(KD) is smaller than the maximum value V(MAX), removing V(MAX) from the frequency distribution; and a step of counting the total frequency of removed maximum values V(MAX) as knock occupancy KC. Maximum values V(MAX) are removed until the knock determination level V(KD) and the maximum value V(MAX) coincide, and the knock determination level V(KD) is recalculated.

摘要: The present invention removes voltage that accumulates over a period of time in an automotive engine cooling system. This accumulation of voltage is provided a path to travel inside the engine and cooling system by the cooling liquid used to cool the vehicles engine. This accumulation of voltage looks for a likable metal to bond with and the constant colliding of the voltage trying to bond with the metal creates damage know as electrolytic metal erosion. Overtime this act of nature erodes and weakens metal cooling system components causing them to fail. This process can lead to the vehicle breaking down due to its engine overheating. The electronic voltage remover is designed to remove and dissipate this harmful voltage from the vehicle's engine cooling system.
