According to the paper treatment agent of the present invention, when a pressure is applied to treated paper like nose blowing or the like, slick texture that is specific and distinctive smoothness which is non-conventional is obtainable.

This disclosure provides high-efficiency and low-energy-consumption synthetic methods of a series of phosphorus-nitrogen-based intumescent flame retardants and the use thereof in paint flame retarding. 1 part by weight of a phosphorization agent and 0.5-4.0 parts by weight of a nitrogen-containing foaming agent are uniformly mixed and stirred at room temperature, and an amount of water is further added to emit heat and initiate reaction. 0.5-3.0 parts by weight of a charring agent and 0.5-4.0 parts by weight of a hydroxy-containing polyfuctional crosslinking agent are then added, and reacted with stirring. An amine compound is finally added for neutralization until pH value is 5-8, and solid liquid separation is performed. The solid portion is dried to obtain a main body portion of a phosphorus-nitrogen-based intumescent flame retardant. The resultant filtrate is diluted with ⅓-⅔ volume of water, and a flame retardant product is obtained. This flame retardant product is mainly used in the flame retarding of paper and cotton fabrics. The main body and different proportions of other nitrogen-containing foaming agents and charring agents are uniformly mixed and pulverized into nano- and micro-scale, and a phosphorus-nitrogen-based intumescent flame retardant is obtained. The nano- and micro-scale phosphorus-nitrogen intumescent flame retardant is mixed into a paint at a weight ratio of 15-30%, to obtain a flame-retardant paint which is capable of maintaining mechanical and physical properties of the paint. The phosphorus-nitrogen-based intumescent flame retardant of this disclosure is an intumescent flame retardant having a synergistic effect of phosphorus and nitrogen.

The invention relates to tissue products having improved softness properties and methods of making them. Specifically, improved softness is achieved by incorporating one or more softeners/debonders into the fiber furnish at the wet end of the tissue machine prior to formation, followed by a topical treatment with one or more softeners/debonders after the tissue web is dried. The result is a tissue product with added bulk and a smooth surface feel, both properties contributing to improved softness characteristics.

The present invention provides a process for making a paper based product which comprises a paper sheet, an aqueous latex binder and a release agent comprised of an emulsion of lecithin and a fatty acid or derivative thereof. In one embodiment, the process comprises first preparing a slurry of a cellulosic pulp and a polymeric latex binder, and then breaking the stability of the latex so that the polymer particles of the latex are able to be deposited on the fibers of the cellulosic pulp. An emulsion comprised of lecithin and a fatty acid or derivative thereof is added during the process. The addition can be to the slurry, or to the web which is formed when the slurry is drained of liquid. The web is then dried to provide the paper based product. In a preferred embodiment, a slurry of cellulosic pulp is first drained of liquid to form a web, with the polymeric latex binder and emulsion being applied to the web prior to drying.

An apparatus is disclosed for preparing a quantity of individual treated fibers from one or more fiber mats. The apparatus comprises a fiber treatment zone, and a conveyor for conveying each mat through the fiber treatment zone. In the treatment zone each mat is impregnated by an applicator with a treatment material, such as a crosslinking substance, and conveyed directly to an attrition device. The attrition device fiberizes the mats to form a fiber output having a low nit level, such as no more than about three, and a dryer both dries the fiber output and cures the crosslinking substance. The fiberizer is configured to minimize the accumulation of fiber at locations therein. Fiber is transported from the attrition device to the dryer at a high velocity under reduced pressure to promote drying. A heated retention bin is provided after drying to increase curing time in the system. A thermobonding agent may be added to the dried and cured fibers to enhance the wet strength of webs made from the fiber.
