Abstract:
A hybrid material tension member for an elevator or other people transportation system using organic fiber and steel material as the load carrying components either discretely or in combined form. Several embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A double-covered yarn based on a spandex core having a heat set of at least 50% and two sheath yarns wound in the same direction, a process for the preparation of such yarn and fabrics produced therefrom, are provided.
Abstract:
Elastic fibers and fabrics made from homogeneously branched substantially linear ethylene polymers are disclosed which can be produced on conventional polypropylene or polyethylene fiber or fabric processes. They can be used to produce highly elastic structures that can have recycle compatibility between elastic and non-elastic components. The novel fibers have at least about 50% recovery at 100% strain. The fibers and fabrics are especially useful in making fabricated articles and components thereof (e.g., disposable diapers).
Abstract:
A method for producing a cable or cable element from individual elements is provided. The method comprises heating the individual elements before or during a stranding process until they are at least close to plastification and cooling the individual elements to a solidification temperature of a plastic. A cable or cable element comprising individual elements that are twisted together to form the cable is also disclosed. The individual elements are heated either before or during a stranding process until they are at least close to plastification, and are subsequently cooled to a solidification temperature of the plastic until they leave a stranding machine. A stranding device for the production of a cable or cable element from individual elements is also disclosed. The stranding device comprises a heating device which acts on the individual elements and a cooling device located downstream of the heating device in a direction of processing.
Abstract:
A cut-resistant stretch yarn having a first elastic core yarn with a first wrapper yarn spirally-wrapped around the elastic core yarn in a first twist direction. The first wrapper yarn is a highly cut-resistant yarn. A second wrapper yarn is spirally-wrapped around the elastic core yarn and the first wrapper yarn in a second twist direction. The second wrapper yarn is a highly cut-resistant yarn. The elastic core yarn may be an elastomeric yarn, neoprene or rubber.
Abstract:
A method for the manufacture of an elastic twisted yarn has at least one outer yarn wound or twisted around an expanded, elastic core yarn. In a first process step the outer yarn is wound around the core yarn with a winding speed providing less than the nominal twist of the finished twisted yarn. The thus formed intermediate yarn is wound up and then twisted in the same direction of rotation in a second process step. In the first process step the outer yarn is wound with the help of a double-pot spindle at a winding rate providing a twist of above 50% of the nominal twist without forming a balloon around the core yarn, and the second process step is carried out on a double-twist spindle.
