摘要: Methods for recycling lithium and iron containing material, such as batteries, include selectively leaching lithium from the material by disposing the material in a powder form in a solution comprising formic acid and hydrogen peroxide, filtering the solution to obtain a first leach liquor comprising lithium and a residue comprising iron phosphate and carbon, subjecting the first leach liquor to a first precipitation to remove residual iron from the leach liquor and obtain a second leach liquor, and subjecting the second leach liquor to a second precipitation, wherein lithium is precipitated and a third leach liquor is obtained. The third leach liquor may be subjected to a third precipitation using trisodium phosphate or sodium carbonate. The material may be a battery cathode, such as a lithium iron phosphate battery cathode.

摘要: Methods for recovering a metal from a metal-containing material are provided. In embodiments, such a method comprises exposing a metal-containing material to a leaching solution comprising a solvent and a binoxalate, a tetraoxalate, or a combination thereof, under conditions to provide a leachate comprising a soluble metal oxalate; inducing precipitation of a metal-containing precipitate comprising the metal of the soluble metal oxalate from the leachate; and recovering the metal-containing precipitate.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for treating lithium ion battery scrap containing Li, Ni, Co, Mn, Al, Cu and Fe, the method comprising carrying out a calcination step, a crushing step and a sieving step in this order, and after the steps, the method comprising: a leaching step of leaching the lithium ion battery scrap by adding it to an acidic solution to leave at least a part of Cu as a solid; a Fe/Al removal step comprising allowing a leached solution obtained in the leaching step to pass through a Fe removal process for separating and removing Fe by addition of an oxidizing agent and an Al removal process for separating and removing a part of Al by neutralization in any order; an Al/Mn extraction step of extracting and removing a residue of Al and Mn from a separated solution obtained in the Fe/Al removal step by solvent extraction; a Co recovery step of extracting and back-extracting Co from a first extracted solution obtained in the Al/Mn extraction step by solvent extraction and recovering the Co by electrolytic winning; a Ni recovery step of extracting and back-extracting, by solvent extraction, a part of Ni from a second extracted solution obtained by the solvent extraction in the Co recovery step and recovering the Ni by electrolytic winning; a Li concentration step of extracting and back-extracting, by solvent extraction, a residue of Ni and Li from a third extracted solution obtained by the solvent extraction in the Ni recovery step and repeating the operations of the extracting and the back-extracting to concentrate Li; and a Li recovery step of carbonating Li in a Li concentrated solution obtained in the Li concentration step to recover the Li as lithium carbonate.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to a method for preparing metal oxide nanosheets. In a preferred embodiment, graphene oxide (GO) or graphite oxide is employed as a template or structure directing agent for the formation of the metal oxide nanosheets, wherein the template is mixed with metal oxide precursor to form a metal oxide precursor-bonded template. Subsequently, the metal oxide precursor-bonded template is calcined to form the metal oxide nanosheets. The present invention also relates to a lithium-ion battery anode comprising the metal oxide nanosheets. In a further preferred embodiment, the battery anode may comprise a reduced template, which is reduced graphene oxide (rGO) or reduced graphite oxide.

摘要: A method for producing an iron pigment and hydrochloric acid with reduced or substantially eliminated waste streams includes: providing an iron chloride solution, wherein the iron chloride solution includes one or both of iron (II) chloride and iron (III) chloride; neutralizing the iron chloride solution with one or both of ammonia and ammonium hydroxide to form a slurry of an iron oxide solid component and an ammonium chloride solution; separating the iron oxide solid component from the ammonium chloride solution; drying the iron oxide solid component to form an iron pigment or pigment intermediate; reacting the ammonium chloride solution with an alkaline-earth metal solid to form an alkaline-earth metal chloride solution and to evolve ammonia as a vapor, wherein at least a portion of the evolved ammonia reacts with water to form ammonium hydroxide; recycling one or both of the evolved ammonia and the formed ammonium chloride for use in connection with the neutralization step; and pyrohydrolyzing the alkaline-earth metal chloride solution to form hydrochloric acid and to regenerate the alkaline-earth metal solid. Iron pigment or pigment intermediate produced in accordance with the method may have a yellow, red, or black color.
