Abstract: A method is performed for controlling a human-powered vehicle. The method includes calculating a first movement amount of the human-powered vehicle on a road from at least one of a rotational speed of a wheel of the human-powered vehicle and a rotational amount of the wheel. The method further includes calculating a second movement distance in an advancing direction of the human-powered vehicle and a horizontal direction from the first movement distance and a pitch angle of the human-powered vehicle and calculating a third movement distance related to movement in the advancing direction of the human-powered vehicle and a vertical direction from the first movement distance and the pitch angle. The method further includes predicting a terrain of the road from the second movement distance and the third movement distance.

Abstract: An accelerator position sensor according to the present invention is held inside a throttle grip of a vehicle rotationally operated by a driver. The accelerator position sensor includes: a magnet extended along a rotation axis of the throttle grip and configured to rotate in conjunction with the throttle grip; a magnetic detection unit arranged so as to face a predetermined face of the magnet; and a magnetic body arranged so as to face another face that is different from the predetermined face of the magnet. On the predetermined face and the other face of the magnet, respectively, mutually different numbers of magnetic poles are magnetized along a rotation direction of the magnet.

Abstract: An electronic bicycle includes a torque control system that controls what torque is applied to wheels of the electronic bicycle by electronic hub motors. The torque control system may determine a torque to apply to the wheels based on user input signals. The torque control system also may detect when the wheels of the electronic bicycle are slipping, and adjust the torque to minimize the time that the wheel is slipping. Additionally, the torque control system may determine a coefficient of friction between the wheels and the ground and determine a maximum torque to apply to the wheels based on the coefficient of friction. Furthermore, when braking, the torque control system may determine whether torque is applied to the wheels by passive braking or by active braking.
