摘要： An automatic brake adjusting device includes an activating lever movable by a braking drive device and freely rotatably mounted about a camshaft which includes a cam for moving brake shoes against a brake drum. A ratchet wheel is fixed to the camshaft. A first ratchet cog is mounted on the activating lever and biased into engagement with teeth of the ratchet wheel. A rocking lever is mounted about an axis adjacent the ratchet wheel and has a second ratchet cog biased into engagement with teeth of the ratchet wheel at a position diametrically opposite the first ratchet cog.

摘要： An apparatus for externally controlling one or more brakes on a vehicle having a pressurized fluid braking system and a method for using the apparatus to halt the vehicle are described. The apparatus can include a pressurizable vessel that is adapted for fluid-tight coupling to the braking system. Impact to the rear of the vehicle by a pursuit vehicle, shooting a target mounted on the vehicle or sending a signal from a remote control can all result in the fluid pressures in the braking system of the vehicle being modified so that the vehicle is stopped and rendered temporarily inoperable. A control device can also be provided in the driver's compartment of the vehicle for similarly rendering the vehicle inoperable. A driver or hijacker of the vehicle preferably cannot overcome the stopping action from the driver's compartment.

These levers which in cross section are made up of a pair of parallel flanges 0.050" in width connected by an outer curl of radius 0.030" are particularly effective in transferring the opening force to the displaceable panel in the end. The tab is characterized by a low weight and a high mechanical advantage.

摘要： A slip control system for vehicles having spaced apart differentially driven wheels (200,202) including means (220) for calculating wheel slip according to the ratio of wheel speeds, means (242,230,232) for entering a slip control mode wherein a braking force is applied to the slipping wheel and incrementally varied on a periodic review basis according to recalculated slip values. If slip increases or holds steady, the brake force is incrementally increased. As slip becomes less, the brake force is incrementally reduced, the particular increments of force reduction being selected in accordance with successive measurements of slip. A drive shaft signal (226) is compared to the high wheel speed signal to identify a wheel speed transducer failure.

摘要： A hydraulic braking pressure control valve for use in a vehicle includes a first inlet and outlet connected to a first pressure circuit, a second inlet connected to a second pressure circuit, a first piston having therethrough a liquid passage which normally connects the first inlet and outlet, a second piston receiving liquid pressure in the second inlet for displacing the first piston against the biassing force of a pressure control spring, and a valve mechanism associated with the first piston for closing the liquid passage when the first piston is displaced by a predetermined distance by the second piston. A plunger is provided with one surface thereof facing the first piston with the pressure control spring interposed therebetween and the other surface thereof receiving liquid pressure from the first pressure circuit, and an inertia valve is provided for cutting off the supply of liquid pressure to the other surface of the plunger at a predetermined deceleration of the vehicle.
