Abstract: A braking arrangement for a vehicle, the braking arrangement comprising an electric machine electrically connectable to an electric power source, a brake compressor positioned in an air flow conduit, the brake compressor being configured to pressurize a flow of air and to exhaust the pressurized flow of air, and a compressor shaft mechanically connecting the electric machine and the brake compressor to each other, wherein the electric machine is configured to generate a torque on the compressor shaft for operating the brake compressor to pressurize the flow of air, the braking arrangement further comprising an air bearing arrangement, the air bearing arrangement being fluidly connectable to a pressurized brake air tank of the vehicle via an air bearing conduit, wherein the air bearing arrangement is suspending the compressor shaft to at least one of the electric machine and the brake compressor.

Abstract: A method of brake control of a vehicle combination (2) composed of a tractor vehicle (4) with an electronically controlled braking system (5) and a trailer vehicle (6, 8) with a pneumatically controlled pneumatic braking system (7, 9), involves introducing the brake control pressure (pBC) of the trailer vehicle (6, 8) into a tractor brake control line (19) extending to a tractor vehicle-side “brake” coupling head (26) via an electronically controlled trailer control valve (13) of the tractor vehicle (4). At the beginning of a braking operation, a pressure pulse (34) exceeding a target brake control pressure (pBC_soll) is introduced into the tractor brake control line (19). The volume of a trailer brake control line (28, 29, 32) coupled to the “brake” coupling head (26) is ascertained, and the absolute value (ΔpPI) and/or the duration (ΔtPI) of the pressure pulse (34) introduced are/is established depending on the ascertained volume.

Abstract: Systems and methods for a vent interlock system to ensure vent cover closure prior to operation of a transportation vehicle. An embodiment of a system may include an interlock bar. The interlock bar may, in a lowered position, prevent a hydraulic valve handle of a hydraulic pump assembly from moving from an open position to a closed position, the hydraulic valve handle in the closed position to allow a vent cover of the trailer to be opened. The system may include a plunger valve connected to brakes of the transportation vehicle to lock the brakes of the transportation vehicle to prevent operation of the transportation vehicle when the interlock bar is raised. The system may include a spring operated latch attached to the transportation vehicle to hold the interlock bar in the lowered position via a notch or aperture in the interlock bar.

Abstract: An improved air compressor is provided. The air compressor includes a cylinder block having a head deck that defines a piston bore for reciprocal movement of a piston therein. The head deck further includes first and second ramped surfaces that slope downward toward the peripheral edge of the piston bore. A valve plate is in direct contact with the upper surface of the head deck, the valve plate having a leaf valve. During an intake stroke of the piston, the leaf valve deflects downward into direct engagement with the first and second ramped surfaces. Because the air compressor lacks a lower gasket between the valve plate and the head deck, the cost and assembly time associated with the lower gasket are eliminated.

A synchronized air delivery system can utilize a shared air source as a common shared input to drive two different systems, including the ATB system and CTIS.
