Abstract:
A composite core material and methods for making same are disclosed herein. The composite core material comprises mineral filler discontinuous portions disposed in a continuous encapsulating resin. Further, the method for forming a composite core material comprises the steps of forming a mixture comprising mineral filler, an encapsulating prepolymer, and a polymerization catalyst; disposing the mixture onto a moving belt; and polymerizing said encapsulating prepolymer to form a composite core material comprising mineral filler discontinuous portions disposed in a continuous encapsulating resin.

Abstract:
A manufacturing process of a constructive material has a main purpose of recycling an industrial waste material such as coal ash, incense ash, timber dust, argil mud, and clay compound as a manufacturing foundation. An adequate amount mixture of the foundation is processed through a state of heating and pressuring to form a body of constructive material with outstanding characteristics of natural timber, stone, ivory, and etc., which would prudentially be the future replacement of the natural constructive elements. The constructive material not only meets the characteristics and qualification of natural constructive material, but also can virtually reduce the percentage rate of environmental mutilation and nature intrusion. Moreover, it can beneficially help to provide a better environment and a higher living standard.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions comprising plasticizer, first organic polymeric material fused or fusible in the plasticizer and second polymeric material not fusible in the plasticizer, said second polymeric material having a softening point temperature less than about the fusion temperature of the first polymeric material in the plasticizer. The first polymeric material preferably comprises vinyl resin and the second polymeric material preferably comprises acrylate polymers in particulate form. Also disclosed are methods for producing surface coverings comprising converting the liquid plastisols of the present invention to solid compositions under time and temperature conditions sufficient to enable softening, and preferably substantial softening and swelling, of the second polymeric material prior to fusion of the liquid composition.
Abstract:
A utilitarian and/or decorative object and a method for forming the object fabricated mainly of a plastic material, such as polyester, having a metallic outer face which thereby imparts to this object the appearance and/or hand of a like object made entirely of metal. In this technique, a mixture of a liquid monomer, a curing agent therefor, a dispersion of metal particles and floatable particles are poured into a mold for forming the object. The metal particles are permitted to settle in the mold or the mold is centrifuged to cause the metal particles to migrate toward the outer or lower region of the piece and concentrate in this region before the monomer polymerizes and hardens to bind the particles. At the same time the floatable particles, such as glass or ceramic microspheres, rise to the inner or upper region of the piece and concentrate in this region before the monomer polymerizes and upon hardening of the monomer maintains the article in the desired shape without distortion from warping from uneven shrinkage. After removal from the mold, the outer face of the piece is polished and buffed to remove the fine plastic skin from the surface of the metal particles and to polish the exposed metal surface, whereby the resultant plastic piece simulates the appearance of a solid metal piece.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a columnar shaped piece formed of a thermoplastic matrix with ancillary pieces of a non-creeping hard material embedded therein and cemented by the plastic matrix. The ancillary pieces are essentially overlapping slabs which are substantially parallel to one another and the axis of the columnar shaped piece. Molten thermoplastic blended with solid slabs is extruded in the form of a billet into one end of an elongate mold and rotated around the inner surface of the mold. The extrusion continues until the inner surface is uniformly covered with constituents of the billet.
Abstract:
Paint compositions which contain stretchable polymers and reflective metal flakes are used to form stretchable films for the thermoforming of protective and decorative films on various articles, including automobile panels. The use of low melting metallic flakes improves the retention of gloss when the films are stretched during thermoforming.
