Abstract: A winch rigging link has a body defining a cable retainer and a soft shackle retainer at opposite ends. The body has a length, a width less than the length, and a depth less than the width. Furthermore, the body defines opposing faces bounded by the length and width and spaced apart by the depth. The soft shackle retainer comprises a channel running widthwise across the soft shackle retainer an in between the faces. The channel defines a bearing surface having curvature in a lengthwise and widthwise plane. The cable retainer may be permanently attached to a winch cable and the soft shackle retainer attached to a soft shackle or the like when required for winch rigging. The configuration of the link maximises the bend radius of the soft shackle or the like retained by the soft shackle retainer, despite the relatively narrow profile of the body thereof.

Abstract: A platform bird feeder is provided including a base platform with a seed tray, a baffle and a center pole having a bottom end connected the tray, the baffle being tiltably and adjustably mounted to the pole above the base. Preferably, the seed tray has a seed protecting grate to hinder squirrels from accessing the seed in the tray. The height of the baffle above the seed tray may be adjusted up and down to allow the user to increase and decrease the seed access space, respectively, between the baffle and the tray. When the baffle is at a desired height, it is secured in place by an adjustable securing mechanism that, while holding the baffle at the desired height, allows the baffle to tilt or wobble when sufficient weight is placed on one side of the baffle.

Abstract: The invention relates to thread joints and can be used in mechanical engineering, equipment construction, the oil and gas industry and communal utility systems.A method for tightening a thread joint of a base part with a small thread pitch and a part to be attached with a large thread pitch by rotation in screw-in direction of a differential thread connector, comprising portions of a one-directional thread corresponding to the threads of the base part and the part to be attached. The differential thread connector is formed in such a way that it can be screwed on the small thread of the base part to a predetermined length, subsequently the part to be attached is screwed on the large thread of the differential thread connector until contact with the base part is reached, and the preliminary tightening is carried out in screw-in direction, and subsequently the differential thread connector is rotated in screw-out direction and the final tightening is carried out. For instance, the method is applicable for tightening two cylindrical parts, one part 1 with a threaded portion with a pitch S1 and a plane contact surface 4, to another part 2 with a threaded portion with a pitch S2 and a plane contact surface 5, the thread pitch S2 being larger than the pitch S1 by an amount of ΔS=S2−S1. A differential thread connector 3 is formed as a coupling with portions with an inner thread with pitches S1 and S2. The method for tightening a thread joint is carried out as follows. The part 1 with the thread pitch S1 is screwed into a threaded aperture of the differential thread joint 3 to a predetermined length A. Subsequently the part 2 with the thread pitch S2 is screwed into the differential thread connector 3 from the opposite end until coupling of the contact surface 5 of the part 2 with the contact surface 4 of the part 1 is reached. In this position the preliminary tightening of the joint with a torque M1 in the direction of the arrow 6 (screw-in) is carried out. Further, while the part 2 is kept immobile, the differential thread connector 3 is rotated around the arrow 7 (screw-out), and the final tightening of the joint is carried out with a torque M2>M1.

Abstract: A fastener includes a clip including a flexible head having an outer surface configured to engage and edge of a first slot in a first panel when the flexible head is inserted therein and a retainer configured to be inserted into a channel within the flexible head to impede flexing of the flexible head thereby retain the flexible head in the first slot. The clip may further include at least one member extending from the head and configured to engage a second slot in a second panel to hold the first and second panels together when the first and second slots are positioned in an opposing relationship. In some embodiments, the at least one member may include first and second spring arm members extending from the head and having outer surfaces configured to engage edges of the second slot when inserted therein. Abstract: A method is provided for assembling an aircraft structure assembly composed of a plurality of sections, and doing so without use of any shimming, locating fixtures or final-hole-size drill jigs. The method includes supporting the first and second frame sections on respective adjustable supports, and positioning the interconnecting frame section therebetween. The method includes aligning first pre-drilled mating holes in the interconnecting frame section with first pre-drilled mating holes in the first and second frame sections, and installing fasteners through the aligned, first pre-drilled mating holes. The method includes positioning a structural mating section relative to the first and second frame sections and interconnecting frame section. And aligning second pre-drilled mating holes in the structural mating section with second pre-drilled mating holes in at least one of the frame sections, and installing fasteners through the aligned, second pre-drilled mating holes to secure the structural mating section.
