Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus for cutter analysis and mapping. In one embodiment, a computer implemented method comprises acquiring a training set of images, wherein the training set of images comprise a set of images of cutters; and training a machine learning system using the training set of images, wherein the machine learning system comprises a set of weights corresponding to one or more nodes of a neural network of the machine learning system, and wherein the machine learning system provides an output representing whether an image includes a visual representation of a cutter.

Abstract: A one-piece cutting head for a drill bit includes a main cutting edge that extends between radial extremities of the cutting head. The main cutting edge is disposed between main rake surfaces and main relief surfaces. Each main rake surface includes one or more rake facets, and each main relief surface includes one or more relief facets. Adjacent rake facets and relief facets define a primary transverse edge therebetween that extends away from the main cutting edge. The cutting head further includes a plurality of side cutters that are transverse to the main cutting edge and that propagate from the primary transverse edge to a radial extremity of the cutting head. Each side cutter includes a side cutting edge between a side cutting rake facet and a side cutting relief facet.

In the casing protection bit cemented carbide tips 5a to 5j are disposed on all planes of the base portion 2 except for a plane from which the leg portions 3 and 4 extend.

The retention member is configured to release the DOCC element downhole to allow one-way movement of the DOCC element to a second exposure position.

Abstract: A drill bit is provided. The drill bit includes a bit body and an axle disposed in the bit body. Abstract: Embodiments relate to a polycrystalline diamond compact (“PDC”) including a polycrystalline diamond (“PCD”) table bonded to a cemented carbide substrate including tungsten carbide grains having a fine average grain size to provide one or more of enhanced wear resistance, corrosion resistance, or erosion resistance, and a PDC with enhanced impact resistance. In an embodiment, a PDC includes a cemented carbide substrate having a cobalt-containing cementing constituent cementing tungsten carbide grains together exhibiting an average grain size of about 1.5 μm or less. The substrate includes an interfacial surface and a depletion zone depleted of the cementing constituent that extends inwardly from the interfacial surface to a depth of, for example, about 30 μm to about 60 μm. The PDC includes a PCD table bonded to the interfacial surface of the substrate. The PCD table includes diamond grains bonded together exhibiting an average grain size of about 40 μm or less.

Abstract: A hybrid bit includes an earth-boring element and a percussion element. The earth-boring element and the percussion element are coaxially arranged, with the earth-boring element surrounding the percussion element. A reciprocating member of the percussion element may oscillate in a manner that enables a bottom end of the reciprocating member to repeatedly protrude from a bottom end of the earth-boring element and to be repeatedly withdrawn. A configuration of the earth-boring element may enable it to drill into and remove some materials from an earth formation, while the percussion element may enable the hybrid bit to drill into and remove difficult-to-drill materials, including abrasive materials and/or materials with high compressive forces, such as chert.
