摘要: A device for opening a connection to a lined pipe is disclosed. The device has a body that includes a front end and a rear end and being rotatable about a rotation axis. The device also has a drill head that has multiple cutters for puncturing and enlarging a hole in a liner, and multiple side cutters have at least one cutting edge parallel to the rotation axis. A safety ring is disposed on the body between the drill head and the side cutters. The safety ring has a circular periphery extending beyond the drill head and the side cutters in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis.

摘要: This document provides novel drills and/or reamers that are well-suited for making holes in a variety of materials including, but not limited to, metals, ceramics, glass, wood, plasterboard, plastics, stone, composites, synthetics, silicon or multi-layered or hybridized substrates. In some embodiments, these drilling devices have some centers of mass that are offset from the axis of rotation. Accordingly, such drills and/or reamers may rotate and cut using a precessional pattern of motion. Precessional cutting devices may display a mechanical wave pattern in relationship to the longitudinal axis of the device. If the cutting device is fabricated from a flexible material, for example Nickel-Titanium, bodily deflection of the device may result during rotation.

摘要: A drill head extending along a drill axis made of hard metal for rock drills is disclosed. The drill head features at least one major cutting edge and at least one minor cutting edge, where the major cutting edge extends from a first radially inner end to a first radial outer end which lies on a first diameter and where the minor cutting edge extends from a second radially inner end to a second radially outer end which lies on a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter. A first enveloping surface defined by the minor cutting edge projects completely axially over a second enveloping surface defined by the major cutting edge.

摘要: The invention provides a bit (10) for use with a rotatable tool, said bit including: a shaft (12) having a rearward end adapted to be held by a chuck of the rotatable tool, and a forward end (18) having cutting tips formed thereon; a reaming head (14) including a body having a bore (16) adapted to receive the shaft therethrough in a sliding fit, the body having a plurality of cutting blades (26) formed on at least one peripheral surface thereof; the bore and/or the shaft having formations thereon such that when the rearing head has the shaft operatively located in the bore the reaming head is rotationally locked into the shaft; the reaming head and the shaft being separable from each other to allow either component to be replaced independently of the other. The invention also provides a bit having a tip end and shank end for use with a rotatable tool, said bit having at least 4 blades (24) to engage ard drive a screw when said rotatable tool is rotated, each blade including at said tip end a bevel so as to form a cutter (22) at the extremity of said blade, each bevel and/or cutter being able to cut in the same rotational direction. The invention further provides a method of making a bit for use as a screwdriver and countersinker, said method including the steps of: 1) forming at least a four blade screw driving end onto one end of blank, 2) forming a bevel at the extremity of each blade, said bevel producing an inclined plane cutter.

摘要: Provided is a cutting tool capable of improving both the biting property to a work material and the chip discharge property. The cutting tool includes a drill body rotated about a central axis, four or more cutting edges formed on one end portion of the drill body to face a forward side of a rotation direction, and a flute groove that is formed between the cutting edges adjacent to each other in a circumferential direction and extends substantially spirally along the central axis. (1) The one end portion includes a first tip portion that includes the central axis and has a first tip angle, and a second tip portion that extends from the first tip portion to an outer peripheral edge of the drill body and has a second tip angle larger than the first tip angle, and (2) the drill body includes a first core thickness portion that is formed in such a manner that a core thickness thereof gradually decreases from the one end portion to the other end portion, and a second core thickness portion that is formed in such a manner that a core thickness thereof is constant from the first core thickness portion toward the other end portion.
