Abstract:
Provided is a pneumatic tire having at least one carcass layer as a skeleton extending in toroidal shape over a pair of bead portions, at least one belt layer and a tread disposed on an outer side in the radial direction of a crown portion of the carcass. In a tire section in the widthwise direction in state where the tire is assembled to an application rim, ratio BD/BW of radius difference BD between radius at a center portion and radius at an end portion in the widthwise direction of an innermost layer of the belt layer, to width BW of the innermost layer, ranges from 0.01 to 0.04, and ratio TD/TW of radius difference TD between radius at a center portion and radius at an end portion of the tread in the widthwise direction of a tread ground surface, to tread ground-contact width TW, satisfies BD/BW
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for transporting a payload over a surface is provided. A vehicle supports a payload with a support partially enclosed by an enclosure. Two laterally disposed ground-contacting elements are coupled to at least one of the enclosure or support. A motorized drive is coupled to the ground-contacting elements. A controller coupled to the drive governs the operation of the drive at least in response to the position of the center of gravity of the vehicle to dynamically control balancing of the vehicle.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire having a carcass and a belt reinforcing structure wherein the belt reinforcing structure is a composite belt structure having at least one radially inner spiral layer and at least one zigzag belt reinforcing structure located radially outward of said spiral layer. The zigzag belt width is preferably narrower than the spiral layer.
Abstract:
A tire is provided suppressing air incorporation and raising durability without a detrimental effect on running performance. The tire 10 includes a ring shaped tire case 17 formed from a frame resin material, with a reinforcement layer 28 formed by winding and joining a covered cord member 26, formed by a cord resin material 27 covering a reinforcement cord 26A, on a crown section 16 portion of the tire case 17. Accordingly air incorporation is suppressed and durability is raised without a detrimental effect on running performance.

Abstract:
A pneumatic tire includes a tire body having a crown portion and a pair of sidewalls. At least one reinforcing belt is disposed in the crown portion of the tire. A tag is carried by the reinforcing belt. In one embodiment, the tag is disposed in the location of one of the reinforcing cords that is disposed in the reinforcing belt. In another embodiment, the tag is disposed at the splice of the reinforcing belt. An alternative version of the tire has the tag carried in a depression formed in the outer surface of the tire sidewall. The tag may be encapsulated with an encapsulation material that is also disposed in the depression.
Abstract:
Pneumatic tire, the belt of which is reinforced by a multilayer laminate comprising at least one multiaxially drawn thermoplastic polymer film, such as for example a biaxially drawn PET film, placed between and in contact with two layers of rubber composition, such as natural rubber. Preferably, the thermoplastic polymer film has, irrespective of the tensile direction considered, a tensile modulus E which is greater than 500 MPa, a maximum tensile stress σmax which is greater than 80 MPa, and an elongation at break Ar greater than 40%. The above thermoplastic polymer film, placed between two layers of diene rubber compositions, can especially be used in the belt of pneumatic tires as a perforation-resistant protective film.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire including: a cylindrical annular structure; a rubber layer, which will become a tread portion, provided along a circumferential direction of the annular structure on an outer side of the annular structure; a carcass portion provided on at least both sides in a width direction of the cylindrical structure including the annular structure and the rubber layer; and an extending portion that extends from both sides in the width direction of the annular structure farther outward in the width direction than a ground contact edge on the outer side in the width direction of the tread portion, and that is provided in plurality on both sides in the width direction along the circumferential direction of the annular structure.
Abstract:
A cord fabric is structured by weaving a weft yarn into a large number of warp yarn (2) disposed in parallel so that the weft yarn crosses the warp yarn at a coarse density. In the cord fabric, the warp yarn is a composite cord constituted of at least one aramid first twist yarn and one aliphatic polyamide first twist yarn, and the weft yarn is a spun yarn of meta system aramid fiber. The cord fabric is used as a strip material of a belt cover layer which is wound in a spiral pattern around an outer circumference of a belt layer of a pneumatic tire in a radial direction.
Abstract:
The process of forming a reinforced rubber article comprising, in order, slit extruding fibers having at least a first layer containing a polymer, orienting the fibers monoaxially forming monoaxially drawn fibers having a plurality of voids in the first layer in an amount of between about 3 and 15 percent by volume of the first layer, forming the monoaxially drawn fibers into a fibrous layer, and embedding the fibrous layer into rubber.
