Abstract:
Methods for adding minutes to a calling plan having a calling plan period. The methods including determining whether a threshold number of minutes have been reached during the calling plan period; and incrementally adding minutes to the calling plan when the threshold number of minutes has been reached. The cost per minute of the added minutes is less than the high-cost per minute rate normally associated with exceeding the threshold number of minutes during the calling plan period.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer readable medium comprising instructions for handling insufficient account balance of subscribers in a mobile communications network is disclosed. A request for communication is received from a mobile station. A determination is made as to whether a subscriber of the mobile station has an insufficient account balance. If the subscriber has an insufficient account balance, the request is withheld and the mobile station is notified by a short message.
Abstract:
Systems and methods which determines the likelihood that a calling (or in some cases the called) user will pay for a particular auxiliary service are described. A system of an embodiment considers the user's credit risk and his/her propensity to pay, when deciding if the user is eligible for a particular auxiliary service. A methodology used for determining propensity to pay for an auxiliary service according to embodiments is independent from a determination of propensity to pay for a basic calling service. Thus, the criteria used, and the weight given to each criteria, for determining eligibility for auxiliary services can be different from the criteria and criteria weight used for basic communication connections.
Abstract:
Embodiments that indicate usage information of services for wireless communication devices via ambient elements are disclosed. Some embodiments determine usage of a service for a wireless communication device and manipulate one or more ambient elements to indicate the usage to a user of the device. Various embodiments may determine usage by measuring a quantity of data transferred or measuring a number of voice minutes consumed according to a rate plan. Changing ambient elements may comprise activating vibration modules or changing colors of screen elements, or changing screen brightness of the devices, as examples. Examples of wireless communication devices are cell phones, smartphones, satellite phones, and other types of mobile communication devices that use wireless communication services.
Abstract:
A mobile station user is informed in real time of reaching of a threshold of data usage via a wireless communication network. An account of the user has a maximum data plan limit defined by the user's plan and a data usage balance reflecting an amount of data usage remaining under the plan. When data usage corresponding to the requested data session does not cross the threshold level, a slice of data for the data session is allocated. When required data usage corresponding to the requested data session would cross the threshold level, a reduced slice of data is allocated. Data usage is counted in real time during the data session, and a notification of reaching the threshold level of data is sent to the mobile station in real time, at the time when data usage under the user's account reaches the threshold level.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for a prepaid credit card processing system wherein components or entities such as the acquirer, issuer, or prepaid card processing network can dynamically determine, at the time of the transaction, whether a credit card transaction will be allowed—even where the fee associated with the transaction would cause the balance to fall below zero.
Abstract:
A mobile communication plan offering system and method described herein determines one or more best-fit mobile communication plan offers for mobile communication device (“MCD”) users. Subscribers can also be referred to as “mobile subscribers” or “subscribers”. The mobile communication plan offers typically consist of one or more modifications to a plan (also referred to as packs) or a complete plan including a base plan plus a pack and are based on a mobile usage pattern of a subscriber. In at least one embodiment, the mobile communication plan offering system and method analyzes MCD usage behavior of a subscriber, processes the usage behavior and current spending of the subscriber, and determines a mobile communication plan offering that, if adopted, will result in a positive economic benefit to the subscriber compared with the subscriber's current plan.
Abstract:
A mobile station user is informed of reaching of at least one threshold level of data usage via a wireless communication network in real time. An account of the mobile station user has a maximum data plan limit defined by a user's plan and a data usage balance reflecting an amount of data usage remaining under the plan. When required data usage corresponding to requested data session does not cross the threshold level, all slice of data for the data session is allocated. When required data usage corresponding to the requested data session crosses the threshold level, reduced slice of data is allocated. Data usage is counted in real time during the data session, and a notification of reaching the at least one threshold level of data is sent to the mobile station in real time, at the time when data usage under the mobile station user's account reaches the at least one threshold level.
Abstract:
Prepaid services include associating a plurality of users with a prepaid services account. The account is configured to track a prepaid balance associated with the account as well as to allow at least a subset of the plurality of users associated with the account to draw down the prepaid balance at least generally at the same time. Drawing down the prepaid balance includes allocating a portion of the prepaid balance to each respective user, monitoring a provision of service, and repeating, selectively, the allocating and monitoring.
Abstract:
A removable computer chip module for use in a communication unit is disclosed. The communication unit also includes a transceiver, an interface in communication with the removable computer chip module, and a controller in communication with the interface. The controller configured to receive a first access number stored on the removable computer chip module. The controller is further configured to control a transceiver in the communication unit such that the transceiver transmits the first access number to access a cellular network and receives a second access number. The controller is further configured to control the transceiver such that the transceiver transmits the second access number to the cellular network for subsequent access to the cellular network. The controller is further configured to receive count information associated with calls from the removable computer chip module.
