摘要: The disclosure provides a system and method for metering on a prepaid wireless access point the amount of data transferred between a wireless device and the Internet and inhibiting further data transmission when the amount of prepaid data available reaches or drops below a pre-determined threshold. Specifically, the wireless access point includes a metering client to track one of data usage or an amount of prepaid data available. When the metering client indicates that the amount of data available has dropped below a pre-determined threshold, the wireless access point inhibits further data transmission.

摘要: According to one aspect of this disclosure, a charging client in a telecommunication network controls, or at least influences, the time over which a granted resource quota is considered valid for use in initiating or continuing a communication session that is subject to online charging control. When sending a given reservation request to a controlling charging server, the charging client indicates the requested timer value. Provided the requested timer value is acceptable to the charging server, the server sends a reservation response that includes a conforming granted timer value, and the charging client times expiration of the granted resource quota according to the granted timer value. In case the reservation response is non-conforming, the charging client decides whether or not to use the granted resource quota. Such operations allow the charging client to tune quota timer values, for example, in dependence on loading at the charging client.

The method further includes responsive to the data usage quantity being beyond the threshold data usage, receiving, by one or more computer processors, mobile device information associated with the mobile device. The method further includes analyzing, by one or more computer processors, the mobile device information. The method further includes determining, by one or more computer processors, access for the request based on the mobile device information and the current data usage quantity.

摘要: The present invention discloses methods and systems for sharing data usage by a plurality of SIM cards at a plurality of network devices. Each of the plurality of network devices is capable of housing at least one SIM card from the plurality of SIM cards. The method comprises the steps of determining the total data usage allowance. A remaining total data usage allowance is determined by either retrieving it from a carrier server or by subtracting aggregated data usage information from the total data usage allowance. The method further comprises restricting use of one or more of the plurality of SIM cards when the remaining total data usage allowance is below a first threshold until the remaining total data usage allowance is above the first threshold. The total data usage allowance is changed to a first value periodically or according to an administrator's instruction.

摘要: A method includes establishing a cost for consumption of a given resource by a given resource consumer for a designated period of time, the cost comprising a fixed cost for consumption of the given resource up to a threshold consumption level for the designated time period and an additional cost associated with consumption of the given resource exceeding the threshold consumption level for the designated period of time, monitoring consumption of the given resource by the given resource consumer, determining whether resource consumption by the given resource consumer is projected to exceed the threshold consumption level over the designated time period, generating an alert responsive to determining that resource consumption by the given resource consumer is projected to exceed the threshold consumption level over the designated time period, and providing the alert for presentation via a user interface of a user device associated with the given resource consumer.

摘要: Methods and apparatus to allocate bandwidth between first and second subscribers of a communications network are disclosed. An example method includes, based on a projection that a first data allotment for a first network access account of the first subscriber within a time period will be exceeded, identifying the second subscriber. The first and second subscribers are in a same subscriber group. The second subscriber is projected to have a second network data usage that is below a second data allotment for a second network access account of the second subscriber within the time period. The first and second subscribers have different billing addresses. Assent from the second subscriber to transfer a portion of the second data allotment to the first subscriber is determined. In response, the portion of the second data allotment from the second network access account is transferred to the first network access account.

摘要: A system is presented that enables the control and/or monitoring of an electronic device by a remote terminal via a wireless network. The system includes a remote terminal from which a user accesses an application for controlling and monitoring the electronic device. The application is processed through an application program interface to configure the application for the remote terminal. The configured application is then accessible through a network communication for execution by the remote terminal. The server or system offering the configured application may also act as a proxy between the user terminal and the electronic device, for wireless monitoring or control of the electronic device while the user terminal executes the application.
