Abstract: According to certain embodiments, a method by a network device includes receiving a handshake message for a traffic flow from a Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SDWAN) and determining, from a traffic policy, whether the traffic flow should be symmetrical. In response to determining from the traffic policy that the traffic flow should be symmetrical, the method further includes performing a flow lookup on the traffic flow to determine if the network device originated the traffic flow. In response to determining that the network device did not originate the traffic flow, the method further includes determining a second network device that originated the traffic flow and sending the handshake message for the traffic flow to the second network device in order to maintain symmetry for the traffic flow.

The present disclosure provides a system that collects data from a plurality of data sources to a server, wherein each of the data sources sends data transfer requirements to a controller, the controller determines a transmission policy of each of the data sources on the basis of the data transfer requirements, each of the data sources autonomously sends a request for generating a communication path on the basis of the transmission policy, the controller generates a communication path on the basis of the request for generating a communication path from each of the data sources, and each of the data sources transmits data by use of the generated communication path.

Abstract: Systems and methods of routing a data communication across a network having a plurality switches are provided by monitoring the operation of the plurality of global links to determine which of the plurality of global links provide working paths. A routing table indicative of a status for the plurality of links is maintained, where the routing table provides weighting for each of the working paths. When routing, a link using a weighted pseudo-random selection from the choices available in the routing table is selected. Routing along one of the working paths commensurate with the selected link is performed, and the weighting is updated based upon the operation of the plurality of links.

Abstract: A parameter adjustment method and apparatuses are provided. The method includes: a first exploration device corresponding to a first service node receives a first parameter set from a management device, where the first parameter set includes one or more parameters used by the first exploration device to perform parameter adjustment, the first service node is any one of a plurality of service nodes included in a data center network, and the plurality of service nodes one-to-one correspond to a plurality of exploration devices. The first exploration device obtains a network status of the first service node based on each parameter adjustment until the network status reaches a preset condition, where each parameter adjustment includes: adjusting one parameter in the first parameter set. The parameter is flexibly adjusted based on the network status, to be applicable to different services.

Abstract: Methods and system for supporting traffic steering through a service function chain, the service function chain comprising at least one data processing function. An aspect of the disclosure provides for a method for steering traffic of a packet data unit (PDU) performed by a session management function. The method includes receiving PCC rules from a policy control function, the PCC rules including information comprising at least one of service function chain information; final delivery indication; and selective traffic steering information and associated parameters. The method further includes configuring at least one user plane function (UPF) according to the information. In some embodiments the configuring the at least one UPF includes instructing a first UPF to detect traffic according to the packet detection rules and route the received packet according to the forwarding action rules.

Abstract: A network interface controller (NIC) capable of efficient event management is provided. The NIC can be equipped with a host interface, a first memory device, and an event management module. During operation, the host interface can couple the NIC to a host device. The event management module can identify an event associated with an event queue stored in a second memory device of the host device. The event management module can insert, into a buffer, an event notification associated with the event. The buffer can be associated with the event queue and stored in the first memory device. If the buffer has met a release criterion, the event management module can insert, via the host interface, the aggregated event notifications into the event queue.

Abstract: Techniques for obtaining application network metadata from a service registry so that a network routing policy may be derived for traffic associated with the application are described herein. The techniques may include receiving, at a service registry, network metadata associated with traffic of an application hosted by a scalable application service platform. The techniques may also include obtaining, by a controller of a network and from the service registry, the network metadata associated with the traffic of the application. Based at least in part on the network metadata, the controller may determine a routing policy that is optimized for sending the traffic through the network. Additionally, the controller may send an indication of the routing policy to a node of the network or otherwise provision the network such that the traffic of the application is sent through the network according to the routing policy.

Abstract: In a network control plane, a pattern matching database is built and maintained for identifying an application or application level protocol. In addition, pattern matching databases for predicting a subsequent flow for application layer/level protocols or data protocols are built and maintained. After flow differentiation in network traffic mirrored from a data plane, the network traffic flow is scanned in a first stage and then in a second stage if a signaling protocol message is detected in the first stage scan. For the second stage, one of the application/data protocol pattern databases is selected for scanning based on the signaling protocol message detected in the first stage scanning. If a match is found from the stage 2 scanning, a mapping between the signaling protocol identifier and an identifier for a predicted application traffic flow is created and communicated to the data plane for policy selection and enforcement.
