Abstract: A polar code-based decoding method may comprise: converting a plurality of LLRs of calculation-target bits into a plurality of absolute (ABS) LLR values; sorting the plurality of ABS LLR values in order of size so that a minimum ABS LLR value is designated from among the plurality of ABS LLR values; multiplying the minimum ABS LLR value by a preset weight; and updating path metrics (PMs) of the calculation-target bits in an order in which the plurality of ABS LLR values are sorted, wherein the updating of the PMs of the calculation-target bits comprises, even when a specific ABS LLR value of a specific calculation-target bit is equal or similar to the minimum ABS LLR value, updating a PM of the specific calculation-target bit with the minimum ABS LLR value multiplied by the preset weight.

Abstract: A system for providing end-to-end data protection between a transmitting end device and a receiving end device is presented. The system has a transmitting end device to calculate a first check value for a first message, which has first and second data blocks; the receiving end device; and a remapping device. The remapping device is configured to remap a data block among the first and second data blocks for generating a second message for the receiving end device. The remapping device also determines a remapping value based on the data block and the remapped data block, such that a second check value that would be calculated for the second message would be equal to the first check value, and wherein the second message comprises the other one of the first and second data blocks, the remapped data block, and the remapping value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for dynamic frozen bits of polar codes for early termination and performance improvement. A wireless device may receive a signal comprising a codeword encoded using a polar code. The wireless device may perform decoding of the codeword including at least: parity check of a first subset of decoding paths for making a decision on early termination of decoding of the codeword based on dynamic frozen bits, and generating path metrics for a second subset of the decoding paths that each pass the parity check based on the dynamic frozen bits, and performing error detection on a bit sequence corresponding to one of the second subset of the decoding paths based at part on error detection bits and the generated path metrics. The wireless device may process the information bits based on a result of the decoding.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. An encoder of a wireless device may receive a transport block (TB) for transmission and segment the transport block into a set of multiple, smaller data segments that respectively correspond to a plurality of code blocks of the TB. The encoder may generate a code block level (CB-level) error detection code (EDC) for a subset of the data segments. The encoder may generate a transport block-level (TB-level) EDC for the TB using the data segments. Each of the code blocks (CBs) may be of the same size and may include one of the data segments. A subset of the CBs may include a data segment from the subset of the data segments and one of the CB-level EDCs. The remaining CBs that are not part of the subset may include a remaining data segments and the TB-level EDC.

Abstract: An assistant sub-channel to carry a decoding assistant bit, in input bits that are to be encoded, is selected from each of a plurality of non-adjacent segments. Each segment includes a subset of sub-channels with associated reliabilities. Some embodiments also involve grouping the sub-channels into the segments. After a target number of assistant sub-channels have been selected, the input bits are encoded to generate a codeword, and the codeword is transmitted. Assistant sub-channel selection could involve iterations to select assistant sub-channels at each iteration, until at least the target number of assistant sub-channels have been selected.

Abstract: A system and method for low latency acknowledgements includes a communication unit that includes a processor, a transmitter coupled to the processor, and a receiver coupled to the processor. The communication unit is configured to transmit a message to another communication unit, receive a first group of one or more repetitions of an acknowledgement signal from the another communication unit, and decode the acknowledgement signal prior to fully receiving a last repetition of a second group of one or more repetitions of the acknowledgement signal. The acknowledgement signal has a partially decodable structure. In some embodiments, each of the are repetitions of a same time domain waveform received during one symbol period. In some embodiments, a frequency domain characteristic of the time domain waveform consists of one non-zero tone for every K tones, K being equal to a sum of a number of repetition in the first and second groups.

Abstract: A sequence detector is provided for detecting symbol values corresponding to a sequence of input samples obtained from a transmission channel. The sequence detector comprises a branch metric unit (BMU), a path metric unit (PMU) and a survivor memory unit. The branch metric unit calculates branch metrics for respective possible transitions between states of a trellis. The path metric unit accumulates branch metrics provided by the branch metric unit in order to establish path metrics. The survivor memory unit selects a survivor path based on the path metrics and outputs a survivor sequence of the detected symbols corresponding to the survivor path. The sequence detector is configured such that the synchronization length is different than the survivor path memory length.
