    摘要: A thermal recording system for recording an image or the like on a thermo-sensitive recording medium using a laser beam under a preheated condition of the thermo-sensitive recording medium. In the thermal recording system, a preheating means preheats the thermo-sensitive recording medium which has leuco dyes, a developer and light-absorbing dyes all provided on a support and which develops color in continuous tone at a density corresponding to the energy of applied heat, to a predetermined temperature less than a color-developing temperature. A heating-beam generating means allows the thermo-sensitive recording medium to be scanned with a laser beam emitted therefrom so as to heat the thermo-sensitive recording medium to a predetermined color-developing temperature. Thus, the heating-beam generating means can control the laser beam in a sufficient control range, thereby making it possible to record an image or the like on the thermo-sensitive recording medium with high accuracy.

    摘要: A thermal printer is capable of printing proofs of images on a receiver with any of a plurality of selected half-tone dot patterns. The proof image is generated with a series of incremental dots. A plurality of the incremental dots are generated substantially simultaneously as a swath. The image is formed as a composite of a plurality of the swaths. The printer has the capability of printing with various swath widths. The swath width for a particular image is selected to preclude visible beating of the incremental dots against the selected half-tone dot pattern. Any image artifacts which are a product of interaction of the selected half-tone dot pattern and image elements (such as picket fences) are properly illustrated on the proof image. Image artifacts that are the product of interactions of the incremental dots and the half-tone dots are made invisible to the human eye.

    摘要: A method is disclosed for the calibration of a multichannel printer. The printer comprises a plurality of diode lasers which are modulated in accordance with an information signal. Radiation from the diode lasers is imaged onto a receiving medium such as a thermal print medium. The thermal print medium is supported on a drum which is rotatable about an axis. In order to balance the output from the diode lasers, test patterns are formed on the receiving medium with each of the lasers using known power inputs. The density of each of the test patterns is measured, and the density values obtained are correlated with the input power levels for each of the lasers. The measurement of densities produced by a single laser is facilitated by slowing the print head down by a factor of the number of lines normally printed and writing with one line source at a time.

    摘要: In an optical printing system for printing an image on a recording sheet, adopted as the recording sheet is a sheet coated with microcapsules on one surface thereon. Each microcapsule envelopes a first component which changes color when reacts with a second component. The second component may be coated on the recording sheet or may be coated on a separate developing sheet. The microcapsule further envelopes a third component which varies the mechanical strength of microcapsule when light is projected thereto. An image is formed on the recording sheet by selectively exposing a light thereto in accordance with the image to be printed thereon, and the microcapsules on the recording sheet whose mechanical strength is low are then ruptured by rupturing means. Thereby, the visible image is developed. The exposing is carried out by repeating a predetermined-period exposure at a predetermined interval against the same portion of the recording sheet. The printing operation of the printing system is executed by control means in accordance with a predetermined sequence.
