Apparatus for capturing and printing images on a photosensitive sheet is disclosed. The apparatus includes a camera for electronically storing an image of a subject and having a display for displaying such stored image and includes an alignment structure. The apparatus further includes a printer having a light tight storage receptacle for receiving a stack of photosensitive sheets and for imaging the display image onto photosensitive sheets including a transfer arrangement for transferring a photosensitive sheet from the light tight storage receptacle to an exposure position for receiving an image from the display. The apparatus further includes optics for focusing the display area onto said photosensitive sheet, and provides electronic communication between the electronic camera and the printer so that the printing area of said display is imaged on the photosensitive sheet at the exposure position.

A transfer imaging system is disclosed wherein images are formed by image-wise exposing a layer comprising a chromogenic material and pressure rupturable capsules containing, as an internal phase, a photosensitive composition. In a preferred embodiment, the chromogenic material is encapsulated with the photosensitive composition. Upon exposure and capsule rupture the chromogenic material is image-wise transferrable to a developer or copy sheet where the chromogenic material reacts with a developer to form an image. Preferred systems are sensitive to U.V. or blue light in the wavelength range of 380 to 480 nm.

A thermal developing type photosensitive pressure sensitive recording medium records an image and transfers the image onto an image receiving medium. The image recording medium includes a substrate, microcapsules and binder. The microcapsules are formed on the substrate, and encapsulate therein dye and polymerizable compound. A latent image is formed in a combination of the microcapsules by changing mechanical strength thereof upon photopolymerization of the polymerizable compound for forming cured and non-cured microcapsules. The dye flows out of the non-cured microcapsules and is transferred onto an image receiving layer by rupturing the non-cured microcapsules upon pressure application. The binder fixes the microcapsules onto the substrate. The binder contains a pressure sensitive adhesive agent. A portion of the image receiving layer, which portion being out of the image transferred area is adhesively removed from a base sheet of the image receiving medium and bonded to the image recording medium when the binder is pressed into direct contacted with the image receiving layer. If dye exists between the binder and the image receiving layer, such removal is restrained.

An image recording apparatus for recording an image on an image receiving sheet with use of a photosensitive microcapsule sheet on which microcapsules being photohardenable upon exposure and being hardened by heating are applied, is disclosed.The image recording apparatus comprises an exposing means for rendering the microcapsules hardenable upon exposure thereby, a heating means for forming a latent image on the photosensitive sheet by heating the exposed hardenable microcapsules, a feeding means for feeding the photosensitive sheet to the image receiving sheet through a feeding path and a pressure means for transferring the latent image on the image receiving sheet by pressurizing both photosensitive sheet and the image receiving sheet in superposing the sheets.In such the image recording apparatus, the feeding means is located downstream the heating means on the feeding path.According to the image recording apparatus, since the feeding means is arranged downstream the heating means on the feeding path in the present invention, the microcapsules on the photosensitive sheet are never unnecessarily ruptured by the feeding means before the exposed photosensitive sheet is heated by the heating means. Accordingly, the image with good quality can be formed on the image receiving sheet without injuring the formed image to unnecessarily rupture the microcapsules applied on the photosensitive sheet.
