Abstract:
A passive motion isolation system for motion-sensitive equipment is disclosed. The passive motion isolation system has a three-axis free motion platform mounted on a base subject to ambient motions. A vibration isolation subsystem is coupled between the motion-sensitive equipment and the three-axis free motion platform.
Abstract:
A marine engine has a cylinder block with first and second banks of piston-cylinders that are vertically aligned and extend transversely with respect to each other in a V-shape so as to define a valley there between. A crankshaft is caused to rotate by the first and second banks of piston-cylinders. A flywheel is coupled to the upper end of the crankshaft such that rotation of the crankshaft causes rotation of the flywheel. An alternator is located above the cylinder block and coupled to the flywheel such that rotation of the flywheel operates the alternator.
Abstract:
A bearing having at least two rubber bushings, each having a vertical axis of rotation, the rubber bushings being functionally connected in parallel.
Abstract:
In view of the above, there has been described a load compensator including one or more tension spring assemblies that are contained within a tubular housing when tension from a load is applied to the tension spring assemblies. When the load compensator includes more than one tension spring assembly, the tension spring assemblies are mechanically connected to each other in series and stacked in-line with each other in the housing. In a preferred construction, each of the tension spring assemblies includes elastomeric tension elements mounted between two disks, and the tubular housing includes a tube having threaded ends and caps that screw onto the tube.
Abstract:
An oscillation damper for vibration drivers for suspension from a load-bearing means displays a damping body connected on its opposite end faces to pressure bodies which are variable in their spacing, having a rigid support element which is assigned to the load-bearing means and a rigid support element which is assigned to the vibration driver. The two support elements are connected in an articulated manner by way of flexible ties to each pressure body. The longitudinal axes of the ties form in each case an acute angle with the vertical that decreases as tensile force increases, on account of which high tensile forces can be introduced onto the damping body. Simultaneously with the churning operation of the damping body a pendulum movement of the laterally disposed pressure bodies about the articulations of the ties takes place, on account of which vertical oscillation is largely eliminated.
Abstract:
A protective member includes outer and inner layers interconnected by multiple connectors under tension along their longitudinal axis. The connectors absorb energy from an impact force by resisting further tension along their longitudinal axis, can elongate along their longitudinal axis and allow the layers to move relative to each other. The protective member can be used in numerous applications and environments, including for participants in sports, in applications including bumpers, passenger cabins, car seats, beds, torso protection, ships, gloves, footwear and items.
Abstract:
A device for damping vibrations between a pair of sub-structural components of a carbody in a locomotive is disclosed. The sub-structural components are supported on a single undercarriage frame. The device includes a first support bracket affixed to a first sub-structural component, and a second support bracket that is interleaved with the first support bracket and affixed to a second sub-structural component. The device further includes a first stiffening element and a second stiffening element that are disposed on the first support bracket and in opposing relation to each other. The device further includes a reciprocating member that is rigidly connected to the second support bracket. The reciprocating member is movable between the first stiffening element and the second stiffening element to abut against one of the first stiffening element and the second stiffening element in response to a relative movement between the pair of sub-structural components of the carbody.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a spring element (1) for a cushioning device of a piece of furniture for sitting or lying, in particular for a bed mattress, comprising a spring body (10) and an accommodating section (30) arranged thereon, wherein the spring body (10) and the accommodating section (30) are injection-molded from plastic as one piece. In order to develop a spring element (1) of the type mentioned above in such a way that the spring element can be used for an extended range of applications, a spring element (1) is proposed that is characterized in that the spring body (10) is designed as a ring part (11) extended in the longitudinal direction (40), which ring part comprises two ring part sections (13, 14) that transition into each other as one piece in a center section (12), said ring part sections each having an upward slope in the height direction (42) starting from the center section (12), wherein the end areas (15, 16) of the ring part sections (13, 14) lying opposite each other in the longitudinal direction (40) are connected to each other, the accommodating section (30) lying therebetween.

Abstract:
A buckling shock mounting and method related thereto are discussed herein. In one embodiment, the buckling shock mounting may take the form of a plurality of panels oriented uprightly within a plane to form at least one geometric shape. The plurality of panels are made of a uniform material and each of the panels is configured to buckle when a threshold amount of force is applied perpendicularly to the plane.
