    摘要: A fuel injector for vaporizing a liquid fuel for use in an internal combustion engine. The fuel injector includes at least one capillary flow passage, a heat source arranged along the at least one capillary flow passage, the heat source operable to heat the liquid fuel in the at least one capillary flow passage to a level sufficient to change at least a portion thereof from the liquid state to a vapor state and deliver a stream of substantially vaporized fuel from the outlet end of the at least one capillary flow passage; and a valve for metering fuel to the internal combustion engine, the valve located proximate to the outlet end of the at least one capillary flow passage, the valve including a low mass member for substantially occluding the stream of fuel to the internal combustion engine; wherein the low mass member for substantially occluding the stream of fuel to the internal combustion engine is formed of a material having low mass and or a low coefficient of thermal conductivity. The fuel injector is effective in reducing cold-start and warm-up emissions of an internal combustion engine.

    摘要: A fuel injection device increases an increment value of fuel after cut-off of assist air so that the air/fuel ratio for combustion can be held constant to stabilize the idling rotational speed. The device has control means for controlling, based on various detection signals indicative of an engine cooling water temperature, an engine rotational speed, an amount of intake air, etc., a valve-opening time of a fuel injection valve in accordance with a predetermined control program, and also controlling an on/off control valve for cutting off air supplied to fuel atomizing means. Fuel incrementing means increases an amount of liquid fuel supplied to the fuel injection valve depending on opening/closing of the on/off control valve and the temperature of engine cooling water. When the on/off control valve is closed and an engine is in a state of steady operation, the increment value of the liquid fuel supplied to the fuel injection valve can be gradually increased by the fuel incrementing means.

    摘要: A fuel injection system which serves to supply fuel to a mixture-compressing, externally ignited internal combustion engine which includes an air flow rate member for actuating a metering and distribution valve, a flushing valve is disposed in an outlet line leading from each injection valve to a return flow line open when the engine is turned off and immediately after actuation of the ignition switch of the engine, enables a return flow via the outlet lines of the fuel flowing through the fuel supply line and the metering and distribution valve assembly to the injection valves until an electromagnetic valve drivable by a time control element opens a pressure line to a pressure chamber of the flushing valve, and the pressure prevailing in the pressure chamber opens a diaphragm connected to the movable valve parts of the flushing valve in such a manner that the flushing valve closes. Simultaneously with the opening of the electromagnetic valve, the electrical circuit of the starter motor is closed, so that after the preceding filling with fuel of all the lines and assemblies of the fuel injection system with fuel, a more certain start of the engine is assured.

    摘要: A fuel-air proportioning and mixing system for internal combustion engines is disclosed comprising a variable orifice for measuring the volume of air and a motor driven variable volume displacement pump for measuring and atomizing fuel. Changes in size of the variable orifice in response to variations of air volume furnishes energy to modulate the fuel supply to predetermined ratios with continuous correction for air temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure. Electric motor also provides energy to atomize the fuel and mix it uniformly with air passing to engine intake manifold. The fuel-air ratio is controlled from the most economical to the most powerful in response to engine output load.A variation of the device to accommodate stratified charge engines provides two air fuel ratios -- an ideal mixture for ignition, and a lean mixture automatically variable with torque requirements for the main combustion charge.Other functions provided include automatic enrichment of mixture for cold starting, controlled deceleration of engine speed to prevent stalling, automatic enrichment of mixture if idle speed declines below a predetermined setting, curtailment of fuel supply while decelerating or coasting above a predetermined engine speed, and a complete cut-off of fuel supply with ignition to prevent dieseling. Since there is no float chamber, percolation and vapor lock are eliminated.

Efficient combustion is promoted by forming an aerosol of fine droplet size when the substantially vaporized fuel condenses in air.

During the normal operation of the engine, fuel is evaporated by means of an evaporation and condensation system in order to recover low-boiling fuel components from the fuel delivered to first fuel delivery means during normal operation. The low-boiling fuel components condense and are collected as cold-starting fuel in a supply container. The engine, during the cold-starting and warmup phase, is supplied with cold-starting fuel from the supply container by means of second fuel delivery means, in order to reduce the concentration of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas during the cold-starting and warmup phase.
