摘要: A method of operating a particulate matter sensor includes accumulating particulate matter on the sensor, thereby changing resistance between electrodes of the sensor. The sensor provides a signal that varies based upon an amount of the particulate matter on the sensor and includes a measurement cycle that includes a deadband zone in which the resistance is greater than a first predetermined value, followed by an active zone in which the resistance is less than or equal to the first predetermined value, followed by a regeneration zone. A first bias voltage is applied across the electrodes during the deadband zone and a second bias voltage which is less than the first bias voltage is applied across the electrodes during the active zone. An output that is representative of the amount of the particulate matter is calculated after an end of the deadband zone is reached and prior to an end of the measurement cycle.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for a particulate matter (PM) sensor assembly positioned downstream of a diesel particulate filter in an exhaust system. In one example, a method may include rotating the PM sensor assembly inside an exhaust passage to generate an output, the rotation based on exhaust flow conditions within the exhaust passage. By rotating the PM sensor assembly via a bearing, a rate of soot particulate accumulation on a sensor element of the assembly may be maintained at a desired level, and independent of a direction of exhaust flow inside the exhaust passage.

摘要: An aftertreatment system comprises a particulate filter configured to filter PM possessing a predetermined, least effective size range included in an exhaust gas flowing through the aftertreatment system. A PM sensor assembly is positioned downstream of the particulate filter and includes a housing having an inlet, an outlet, a sidewall and defines an internal volume. A PM sensor is positioned within the internal volume. The housing is configured to redirect a flow of exhaust gas entering the PM sensor assembly around the PM sensor so that small particles included in the exhaust gas flow having a first size within or smaller than the predetermined size range are directed around the particulate matter sensor. Large particles having a second size larger than the predetermined size range impact the PM sensor. A controller is communicatively coupled to the PM sensor.

摘要: A system includes an exhaust system fluidly configured to define an exhaust stream. A sensor is arranged in the exhaust system and is configured to be exposed to the exhaust stream and accumulate particulate matter on the sensor. The sensor provides a signal that varies based upon an amount of particulate matter on the sensor. A control system is in communication with the sensor. The control system includes a controller configured to calculate a differential of a conductance signal related to the signal, compare consecutive differentials to identify an erroneous differential in an abnormal signal based upon an anomaly relating to the accumulation of the particulate matter, and reconstruct the abnormal signal by correcting the erroneous differential to produce a corrected, decimated conductance signal. The control system is configured to determine a total accumulated particulate matter adjusted for the anomaly.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to distinguish and detect an abnormality of SCRF and an abnormality of a diffusing device in a system in which a diffusing device is provided for an exhaust gas passage between a filter (SCRF) including an SCR catalyst carried thereon and a reducing agent addition valve. In the present invention, it is judged that which one of abnormalities of any clogging-up of SCRF caused by PM, any breakage of SCRF, and any abnormality of a diffusing device occurs, on the basis of at least any one of a difference between a NOx purification rate of an SCR catalyst carried on SCRF and a predetermined NOx purification rate and a difference between a PM amount flowing out from SCRF and a predetermined outflow PM amount, when a difference, which is provided between an exhaust gas pressure difference as a difference between an exhaust gas pressure on an upstream side from a reducing agent addition valve and an exhaust gas pressure on a downstream side from SCRF and a predetermined exhaust gas pressure difference, exceeds a certain amount.
