    Abstract: An after-treatment (AT) system used to treat an exhaust gas flow emitted by an internal combustion engine includes a catalyst monolith configured to actively remove a pollutant from the exhaust gas flow. The AT system also includes a heating element configured to heat the catalyst monolith. The AT system additionally includes an energy-discharge unit configured to power the heating element. The energy-discharge unit includes an energy-storage device configured to supply electrical energy. The energy-discharge unit also includes a capacitor configured to receive the electrical energy from the energy-storage device and discharge the received electrical energy to power the heating element and thereby heat the catalyst monolith. A vehicle having an internal combustion engine operatively connected to such an AT system is also contemplated.

    Abstract: An exhaust aftertreatment assembly for treating exhaust gas. According to various embodiments, a first housing has a first end and a second housing has a second end, the second end being coupled to the first end. At least one alignment bracket is coupled to the first housing proximate the first end. An annular gasket is supported on the at least one alignment bracket between the first and second ends. The at least one alignment bracket may comprise a base having a curved surface conforming to the interior surface of the housing, the base having a length that is less than a circumference of the interior surface. A stop arm extends substantially transversely from the base. A support arm extends substantially transversely from the stop arm and substantially parallel to the base. An insulation receiving space is defined between the base, stop arm, and support arm.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an isolator assembly for supporting an exhaust component from a structural portion of a vehicle. The isolator assembly has a mounting bracket having a pair of spaced apart rings defining a mounting bore. An elastomer shear hub component is disposed within the mounting bracket and has an outer diameter (OD) shear hub extending between the pair of spaced apart rings, and an inner diameter (ID) shear hub disposed within the OD shear hub. The ID shear hub defines a central mounting bore adapted to receive an external hanger component.

    Abstract: An electrically-heated catalytic converter includes: a substrate made of ceramic, the substrate including a catalyst coated layer; electrode films made of ceramic, the electrode films being disposed on a surface of the substrate; electrode terminals made of ceramic, each of the electrode terminals being secured to a corresponding one of the electrode films; and external electrodes each attached to a corresponding one of the electrode terminals via a brazing filler metal. A thermal expansion coefficient of the brazing filler metal is equal to or higher than a thermal expansion coefficient of the electrode terminals, and is equal to or lower than a thermal expansion coefficient of the external electrodes. The thermal expansion coefficient of each of the electrode terminals decreases from a portion at which the electrode terminal is joined to the brazing filler metal toward a portion at which the electrode terminal is joined to the corresponding electrode film.
