Abstract: A composite resonator, such as for use in a vehicle air intake system, includes a fiber reinforced contacting a semi-crystalline polymer substrate. The fiber reinforced composite includes a plurality of fibers in a polymer matrix. The composite resonator further includes a particle coating contacting the fiber reinforced composite. The particle coating includes a plurality of particles deposited onto the fiber reinforced composite. In a vehicle air intake system, the composite resonator is connected to the air intake pathway. The vehicle air intake system also includes a turbocharger compressor connected to the air intake pathway.

Abstract: Provided is an exhaust system for an engine in which a fastening force of a fastener hardly decreases. An exhaust system for an engine includes: an exhaust passage component of ferrous metal; and a fastener that fastens the exhaust passage component to other parts, the exhaust passage component including a pressure receiving surface that receives a fastening force of the fastener. The oxide film of triiron tetraoxide is formed on the pressure receiving surface of the exhaust passage component. It is preferable that the oxide film of triiron tetraoxide be also formed on an outer surface other than the pressure receiving surface of the exhaust passage component. It is preferable that the oxide film of triiron tetraoxide be also formed on an inner surface of the exhaust passage component.

Abstract: An electric heating support includes a honeycomb structure having an outer peripheral wall and interior porous partition walls defining a plurality of cells forming a flow path. A pair of electrode layers are disposed on a surface of the outer peripheral wall so as to face each other across a central axis of the honeycomb structure. Protective layers cover the electrode layers, respectively, such that at least a part of each electrode layer is exposed. A pair of metal terminals are provided on the electrode layers. Each electrode layer is composed of a metal-ceramic mixed member. A portion of each electrode layer that is exposed from the protective layer is electrically connected to each of the pair of metal terminals.
