    摘要: Embodiments for a lubrication system for an internal combustion engine are provided. In one example, a lubrication system for an internal combustion engine comprises a lubricant circuit, a radiator for cooling the lubricant, a heat accumulator arranged upstream of the engine for warming up the lubricant, the heat accumulator connected in parallel to the radiator, and a valve for switching over the lubricant circuit between the radiator and the heat accumulator. In this way, the oil may be rapidly heated during cold engine start conditions.

    摘要: An aftermarket modification for diesel engines that operate in cold environments particularly those using a liquid-to-air oil cooler. Engine oil can be routed to a bypass module having a thermostatic element that directs the oil to bypass the oil cooler and return to the engine if the engine oil is below the desired temperature. Once the desired oil temperature is reached, the thermostatic element moves toward a closed position to direct oil through the oil cooler. A pressure bypass element can be incorporated into the bypass module. If the pressure differential between the inlet and outlet of the cooler exceeds a set point, the bypass element moves toward an open position to direct a portion of the oil to bypass the oil cooler.

    摘要: A bypass system for a transmission is disclosed. A transmission casing defines a first aperture and a second aperture. A valve assembly includes a housing defining a first port and a second port. The housing defines an inlet in fluid communication with the first port for guiding a fluid into the transmission casing and an outlet in fluid communication with the second port for guiding the fluid out of the transmission casing. The valve assembly further includes an actuation device disposed in the housing. The housing is mounted to the transmission casing such that the first port and the first aperture cooperate with each other for routing the fluid into the transmission casing directly from the valve assembly, and the second port and the second aperture cooperate with each other for routing the fluid out of the transmission casing directly into the valve assembly.

    摘要: A cooling system for an engine assembly includes an engine block that defines a coolant flow passage configured to carry coolant through the engine block. The engine block also defines an oil flow passage configured to carry lubricating oil through the engine block. The oil flow passage at least partially surrounds the coolant flow passage and is sufficiently adjacent to the coolant flow passage so that the lubricating oil flowing in the oil flow passage is cooled by the coolant flowing in the coolant flow passage by heat transfer through the engine block. The engine block may define ridges along the coolant flow passage that increase a surface area of the coolant flow passage to increase heat transfer capability. The engine block may define two such coolant flow passages, a first and a second coolant flow passage, positioned so that the oil flow passage passes between the coolant flow passages.

    摘要: Bypass valves and heat exchangers employing same are provided where the bypass valves cause the flow through the heat exchangers to be short-circuited under certain temperature conditions. The heat exchangers are formed of stacked plate pairs or tubes having enlarged communicating distal end portions forming inlet and outlet manifolds. The bypass valves can be plugged in where desired between the enlarged distal end portions to produce bypass flow between the inlet and outlet manifolds. The bypass valves include a housing which can be brazed in place during brazing of the heat exchanger. The housing has inlet and outlet openings in communication with the respective inlet and outlet manifolds for bypass flow therebetween. A removable temperature responsive actuator is located in the housing for blocking and unblocking the bypass flow through the valve.

    摘要: A lubricant conditioning system with a lubricant filtering subsystem mounted to a thermal conditioning subsystem. The lubricant filtering subsystem is in lubricant communication with a lubricant distribution subsystem. The thermal conditioning subsystem is in fluid communication with an internal combustion engine's cooling system. Upon activating or starting the engine 11 and activating the lubricant conditioning system via a switch, a thermally controlled conduit begins heating the lubricant in the engine's lubricant sump. The lubricant is pumped through the lubricant distribution subsystem and is circulated throughout the engine's lubrication system. As the engine is operated, the engine's lubricant is pumped into the lubricant filtering subsystem. The lubricant filtering subsystem filters the lubricant. When the engine reaches normal operating temperature, the coolant is sufficiently heated and an inline thermostat is activated enabling coolant to circulate internally about the thermal conditioning subsystem thereby cooling the lubricant.
