Abstract:
Aspects herein relate to apparel items and apparel systems that utilize applied or printed foam nodes to provide, among other things, stand-off between an apparel item and a wearer's skin surface. One or more of the foam nodes, or areas of the textile surrounding the foam nodes, may be perforated to provide a fluid communication path between an inner-facing surface and an outer-facing surface of the apparel item. The communication path may be used to facilitate air exchange between the external environment and the wearer's body and/or to provide an exit path for moisture vapor generated by the wearer.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a carpet tile that includes a polyolefin secondary backing layer. In particular, this invention relates to modular carpet tiles having at least one layer of polyolefin-containing thermoplastic polymer in the secondary backing of the carpet tile. By modifying the composition of the carpet tiles in this manner, the carpet tiles are able to withstand the high temperatures associated with surface printing of the tiles, while still maintaining cold temperature flexibility.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-woven fabric made of inorganic fibers, which has a coating of at least two layers on one of both surfaces, wherein (i) the non-woven fabric made of inorganic fibers has a thickness of at least 0.2 mm, (ii) the first layer of the coating comprises particles, whose particle size is between 50 and 100 μm, (iii) the second layer of the coating, which is applied onto the first layer, comprises particles, wherein more than 90% of the particles have a particle size of less than 20 μm. The non-woven fabric made of inorganic fibers according to the invention, in particular glass non-woven fabrics, are in particular suitable for producing decorative coatings for floor coverings, ceiling coverings and wall coverings.
Abstract:
A novel carpet and fabric carpet backing are disclosed which include a guide for orienting the carpet with respect to machine direction. The carpet comprises a face portion and a fabric backing with an exposed surface visible from the back side of the carpet. The fabric carpet backing includes a plurality of linear patterns visible from the exposed surface running generally parallel to each other and generally parallel to the same edge of the carpet and running the length of the carpet. Each of these linear patterns includes at least a first and second linear sub-pattern running the length of the pattern. The first and second sub-patterns are visually distinct from one another and are disposed in the same position relative to the other and relative to the edge of the carpet in each of the linear patterns. As a result, a guide is provided by these linear patterns for orienting the carpet with respect to machine direction and left/right, even if the carpet is cut on a line between any two linear patterns. Preferably, the linear patterns are made by weaving yarns of two different colors into the backing in the machine direction.
Abstract:
In the production of decorated tufted carpet tiles, a tufted carpet web is made by tufting a pile yarn in a substrate, precoating and backing the tufted substrate on the backside, followed by dyeing, imprinting with a pattern, steaming, washing and drying the carpet web, and thereafter by punching or cutting tiles from the carpet web in the process, the carpet web, prior to the dyeing step and preferably after precoating, is heat treated by being exposed to a temperature of 120.degree.-200.degree. C., preferably 140.degree.-170.degree. C., for 1-8 minutes, preferably for 3-5 minutes, while it is freely supported on an auxiliary carrier, and then subjected to cooling to below 50.degree. C.
