Abstract:
A rubber composition that is based upon a cross-linkable elastomer composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr) between 70 phr and 100 phr of an epoxidized rubber component selected from an epoxidized polybutadiene rubber (eBR), an epoxidized styrene-butadiene rubber (eSBR), or combinations thereof, wherein the epoxidized rubber component has a Tg of between −80° C. and −110° C. and an epoxy-function content of between 1 mol % and 25 mol %; between 30 phr and 150 phr of a plasticizing resin; and a quickly reactive silica that provides a macro dispersion Z-value of at least 50 in a defined rubber composition; and a non-silol coupling agent.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a process to produce a laminate comprises coating at least an outer surface of a dynamically vulcanized alloy film with an adhesive composition to produce the laminate, wherein the adhesive layer has a thickness of less than or equal to about 5 microns, wherein the dynamically vulcanized alloy film comprises a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing a thermoplastic resin as a continuous phase, and a rubber composition dispersed therein, as a dispersed phase. A laminate and a pneumatic tire comprising the laminate are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The foamed article is produced starting from a core layer (1) which comprises a flexible, open-cell foam having voids forming at least 90% of the volume of the open-cell foam. The core layer (1) is applied in a mold (6, 8), optionally together with an upper (3) and/or a lower cover layer (2), between a lower (5) and an upper mold surface (9) thereof. The mold (6, 8) is closed and a curable, foamable composition (7) is allowed to foam in the mold to produce a further foam filling the voids of the open-cell foam. In order to enable to use less foamable composition (7) to fill the voids of the open-cell foam, the core layer (1) is laid onto the lower mold surface (5) and the foamable composition (7) is sprayed onto the core layer (1) lying onto the lower mold surface so that the foamable composition (7) can penetrate at least partially by gravity into the open-cell foam core layer (1). Moreover, the foamable composition (7) has a dynamic viscosity, measured at a shear rate of 1/s, of lower than 1000 mPa·s when arriving onto the core layer (1).
Abstract:
Prepare extruded polymer foam comprising at least 50 weight-percent alkenyl aromatic polymer, a brominated flame retardant providing 0.8 to 1.4 weight percent bromide, 0.05 to 0.5 weight-percent hydrobromic acid scavenger, at least 1.5 weight-percent graphite and less than 0.1 weight-percent C—C and O—O labile organic compounds using a blowing agent composition comprising at least 0.3 weight-parts per 100 weight parts polymer and that consists of blowing agents having an ozone depletion potential of zero and a global warming potential that is less than 1000.
Abstract:
A sheet material includes a polycarbonate substrate and a protective coating containing the reaction products of an aminoplast resin, a polyol compound, and a UV-absorbing amount of a triazine compound. The sheet material exhibits an improved balance of abrasion resistance, solvent resistance, weatherability, and formability.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a one-pack primer-sealer composition for molded SMC parts such as automotive body panels that significantly reduces paint defects (such as paint pop and cracking defects) in the sealing and automotive OEM finishing operations. The coating composition includes silane and melamine components. The composition is sufficiently stable to be formulated as a one-pack coating composition.
Abstract:
A foamed elastomer is presented, manufactured from a foam precursor composition comprising at least one elastomer resin, preferably an ethylene-propylene-diene resin, at least one thermoset resin, preferably a melamine-formaldehyde resin, a curing agent, and a blowing agent. The elastomer composition optionally further includes cure activators, polymerization accelerators, and a filler material. An important feature of the present invention is that the foamed elastomer has a low density and a high modulus, making it particularly suitable as a shock absorber for a bicycle suspension apparatus.
Abstract:
Coated porous materials that exhibit air permeability and repellency to liquids as well as coated, nonporous breathable materials are described as suitable for making ileostomy vent filters, transdermal drug substrates, agricultural and medical apparel, as well as paint and chemical protective garments. The coating composition is applied as a curable composition containing cross-linkable melamine, polyol and fluorocarbon alcohol precursors. Hydrophilic coatings may be prepared by incorporating a polyvalent salt with the curable composition.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved adhesive sheet (also known as a "bond ply," "bond film," or "prepreg") material suitable for bonding together electric circuit boards and other electrical components. The adhesive sheet of the present invention comprises a combination of a porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a ceramic filler, and a thermoset resin imbibed within the porous PTFE structure. By employing a fill of less than about 60% by weight of resin, the adhesive sheet has exceptionally good performance characteristics while being vastly easier to process.
