Abstract:
Biological waste management systems are provided herein. A waste management system may include a waste shredder, an accumulator tank, a water supply, a digester tank, and a grinder pump. The accumulator tank may define an accumulation chamber downstream from the waste shredder to receive a shredded biologic waste or a decomposition agent. The water supply may be in fluid communication with the accumulator tank to provide a water flow to the accumulation chamber. The digester tank may define a digestion chamber in fluid communication with the accumulation chamber to receive a slurry mixture comprising the biologic waste and the decomposition agent. The grinder pump may be disposed in fluid communication with the accumulation chamber to grind the slurry mixture upstream from the digester tank.
Abstract:
Field harvested culture mix is used to inoculate organic waste and produce an inoculated waste material, where the field harvested culture mix includes soil derived microbes. The inoculated waste material is shredded to produce shredded inoculated waste material which is fermented the shredded inoculated waste material for at least 7 days. Contents from the fermenter are then transferred into a dewatering device to produce dewatered contents which are then separated into soluble and suspended products.
Abstract:
A system for the continuous production of a liquid fertilizer is provided. The system operates by feeding a compost material at a continuous rate to an extractor. The extractor uses a belt system to convey the compost along a path. Sprayers above the belt spray water or similar liquid water based substance onto the compost. The water absorbs nutrients and other components of the compost and is then drained through the belt to a receptacle to store the liquid fertilizer.
Abstract:
A digester system for digesting feed material comprises a digester tank, a thickener, and a seal system. The digester tank generates a first digested material and biogas from the feed material. The thickener is operatively connected to the digester tank to remove a second digested material from the feed material to alter a solid content of the feed material in the digester tank. The seal system substantially prevents the thickener from removing biogas from the feed material with the second digested material.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems and methods are provided for the improved use of waste heat recovery systems which utilize the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) to generate mechanical and/or electric power from heat sources generating power from biofuel such as biogas produced during the anaerobic digestion process. Waste heat energy obtained from heat source(s) is provided to one or more ORC system(s) which may be operatively coupled to electric generator(s). A heat coupling subsystem provides the requisite condensation of ORC working fluid by transferring heat from ORC working fluid to another process or system, such as anaerobic digester tank(s), to provide heat energy that enhances the production of fuel for the prime mover(s) without requiring the consumption of additional energy for that purpose.
Abstract:
Sludge from an anaerobic digester is treated to recover one or more of fibers, or solids or liquids with a high nutrient content. The solids or liquids can be used as a fertilizer. The fibers can be used in a plant growing medium. Solids are separated from liquids in the sludge and dried. The solids may be dried to produce a flake or pellet. Ammonia in the liquids is recovered and used to produce a concentrated acidic ammonium salt solution. This solution may be mixed with the solids to produce a nitrogen enhanced solid. The fibers and solids or liquids can also be used in combination to produce an enhanced plant growing medium. A device and process for removing ammonia from a liquid can be used in the system or separately.
Abstract:
An organic waste material processing system includes a waste material holding tank and a slurry-producing device configured to process organic waste material into a slurry. A waste processing section has at least one pressurizeable tank connected to the waste material holding tank receiving slurry therefrom. The pressurizeable tank includes a slurry temperature adjusting part and a first hydrocarbon capturing structure configured to capture hydrocarbon vapors produced by the slurry at a predetermined temperature. A hydrocarbon vapor processing section collects captured hydrocarbon vapors from the waste processing section such that an electric power producing apparatus generates electricity using collected hydrocarbon vapor and provides electric power to at least the pretreatment section and the waste processing section. A waste post-processing section is configured to receive processed slurry produce salable organic materials, nutrient enhanced media and recycled water.
Abstract:
Disclosed are compositions and methods for preparing compositions that improve plant health and reduce fungal infestations. Also disclosed are methods of using the compositions described herein to improve plant health by applying the compositions directly to plants, and/or applying the compositions to substrates used for plant growth. The compositions include a synergistic ratio of composting bacteria, bio-surfactant producing bacteria, bio-remediating bacteria, bovine feces, and humic acid. The compositions reduce fungal growth and fungal infestation the infected area. Methods of reducing brown patch and/or dollar spot infestations to a plant such as turf grass or crop are also described herein.
Abstract:
An aerated compost tea brewer (ACTB) is an apparatus for brewing compost tea from an aqueous compost mixture using either or both air and water pumps to circulate and aerate compost tea.
Abstract:
In one aspect, a system for the production of fertilizer from organic waste comprises a microbial digester configured to digest the organic waste, wherein the digestion of the organic waste produces a digestate having a liquids component and a solids component. A spray dryer module is provided for receiving the digestate and reducing moisture content in the digestate to produce a substantially dry fertilizer product. In further aspects, methods and fertilizer compositions are provided.
