摘要: A power generation system includes an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) electric generator thermally coupled to a stack of industrial heat pumps (IHPs). The ORC requires heat to generate electricity. The IHPs require electricity to generate heat. The IHPs have an efficiency much greater than 100% because some of the output heat from an IHP is pre-existing heat extracted from available source water, The temperature of the source water can be as low as 70° F. By configuring the IHPs to maximize their efficiency, the electricity required to operate the IHPs can be reduced below the output electricity from the ORC. The surplus electricity produced by the ORC is available for export. This coupled ORC/Heat Pump system is an electric generator that requires no fuel to operate and produces no emissions. The required energy is provided by the heat extracted from the source water by the IHPs.

摘要: A process for energy management includes actuating a closed cyclic thermodynamic transformation, first in one direction in a charge configuration/phase and then in the opposite direction in a discharge configuration/phase, between a casing for the storage of a working fluid other than atmospheric air, in gaseous phase and in equilibrium of pressure with the atmosphere, and a tank for the storage of the working fluid in liquid or super-critical phase with a temperature close to its own critical temperature. In the charge phase, the process accumulates heat and pressure. In the discharge phase, the process generates energy. The process includes actuating, with at least one part of the working fluid, at least one closed thermodynamic cycle, even at the same time as the charge phase or as the discharge phase; and heating the working fluid by means of at least one oxy-combustion within the closed thermodynamic cycle.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to an energy storage and retrieval system for the generation of power. A compressor (301) pressurizes ambient air. The pressurized air flow passes through a thermal energy regenerator (280) for thermal energy storage and retrieval and onto an expander (302) for generating mechanical power. The compressor (301) and the expander (302) are coupled to an electrical machine (304) through a common shaft (303). The regenerator (280) comprises one or more Thermal Energy Storage (TES) units which can be coupled to one another in a parallel configuration. The TES units comprise a thermal medium for the storage and retrieval of thermal energy.

摘要: An organic Rankine cycle system with cascade cycles provided with a first organic Rankine cycle which operates at high temperature, in which a first organic working fluid carries out a heat exchange with a hot source fluid and a second organic Rankine cycle which operates at a temperature lower than the temperature of the first organic Rankine cycle and in which a second organic working fluid carries out a heat exchange with the same hot source. The evaporator of the first organic Rankine cycle is fed by the entire flow rate of the hot source fluid, while the evaporator and the preheater of the second organic Rankine cycle are fed by a first partial flow of the hot source fluid, the remaining second partial flow of the hot source fluid being used to partially carry out the preheating of the organic working fluid of the first organic Rankine cycle.

摘要: A fluid storage tank can be configured to store a cooling fluid in a liquid state and a gas state. A first heat exchanger can be configured to release heat into the fluid storage tank. A second heat exchanger can be disposed fluidly downstream of the fluid storage tank and configured to exchange heat between the cooling fluid and a heat load. A pressure control device can be disposed fluidly downstream of the second heat exchanger. One of the first cooling fluid that has been heated by the second heat exchanger or a second cooling fluid different than the first cooling fluid can pass through the first heat exchanger and thereby heat upstream first cooling fluid resident in the fluid storage tank.

摘要: A cogeneration system to generate thermal energy in form of hot water, using the system's solar collector directly as an evaporator and a heat exchanger integrated in a thermal tank used as a condenser. A variable capacity expander (turbine) is used and the organic working fluid selection is specific for this application. Thus is provided a technological alternative for the production of electricity and thermal energy using a renewable energy source.
