A V-ribbed belt has a plurality of V-rib portions extending along a longitudinal direction of the belt and in parallel with one another. The V-ribbed belt includes a compression rubber layer including a frictional power transmission face at least a part of which is configured to come in contact with a V-rib groove portion of pulleys. The frictional power transmission face of the compression rubber layer is formed from a vulcanizate of a rubber composition containing a rubber component and a noise suppression improver. A V-rib angle of the V-rib portions is larger than a V-rib groove angle of the pulleys by 5° to 9°.

There is provided a power transmission belt which comprises a compression layer and an adhesive rubber layer which are adhered to each other by vulcanizing together and which has aramid fiber cords embedded in the adhesive rubber layer, wherein the compression layer and the adhesive rubber layer are formed of vulcanizate of an ethylene-&agr;-olefin-diene rubber compound and wherein the aramid fiber cords having a first twisting coefficient and a final twisting coefficient both in the range from 650 to 950 are adhesion treated with a resorcin-formalin-latex adhesive composition wherein the latex comprises at least one of chlorosulfonated polyethylene and alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene in an amount of 50-100% by weight based on the solid components of the resorcin-formalin-latex and adhered to and embedded in the adhesive rubber layer. A process for the production of such power transmission belt is also provided.

A building unit for constructing a multi-layered, finite length structure, and a method of building such a structure is disclosed. Rolls of stock material are stored in cartridge stations adjacent to a build table. Mounted on the build table and capable of traveling the length of the build table is a build shuttle. The stock material is moved onto the build shuttle and as the shuttle travels the length of the table, the material is dispensed and laid onto the table. The shear assembly on the build shuttle cuts the material to a specified length. In this manner, a plurality of layers are laid onto the table until a structure containing a desired number of layers is achieved.

The fiber/resin mixture layer contains a resin component and heat-resistant fibers having a softening point or a melting point higher than a vulcanization temperature of a rubber forming the compression rubber layer. The fiber layer contains hydrophilic heat-resistant fibers having a softening point or a melting point higher than the vulcanization temperature and does not contain a resin component.
