摘要: Apparatus for joining layers of sheet material along a twodimensional contour by means of dry thermally active adhesive therebetween comprises belt means for moving the materials lengthwise in a predetermined first direction, radiofrequency means for heating the adhesive to cause it to liquefy or plasticize, first means for applying a releasable compressive pressure to the materials and the adhesive in the area to be joined, and pivot pin means for applying constant compressive pressure to an isolated point of the materials, thereby, upon the momentary release of the pressure applied by the first means, to allow the materials to be pivoted about the isolated point and to be joined along the contour.

摘要: A machine converts a web of preformed pouches, which are defined by transverse seals extending from a remote edge, into inflated dunnage units. A sealing arrangement is positioned to provide a longitudinal seal intersecting the transverse seals to close the preformed pouches and form a dunnage unit. The sealing arrangement has at least two sealing belts. Each belt is positioned so that respective first sides engage a surface of the web and pull the web through sealing elements positioned on either side of the web. A heating element is on a second side of the first belt not engaging the web. A compliant material is on a second side of the second belt not engaging the web. As the web passes between the heating element and compliant material, imperfections in the web are smoothed by the compliant material and the layers of the web are sealed by the heating element.

摘要: An electrical heating element, in particular for a hot-wedge film welding device, having two electrodes and a heating resistor arranged between the electrodes such that an application of an electrical voltage to the electrodes results in heat being produced along the length of the heating resistor. The heating resistor is designed to correspond to the shape of a heating wedge of a film welding machine, such that it can replace the heating cartridge and the hot wedge of a conventional film welding device. It is preferably produced from a conductive ceramic material and is distinguished by uniform heat distribution, good thermal conductivity and resistance to wear, as well as by excellent corrosion resistance.

摘要: An improved apparatus and method for joining two or more thin sheets of thermoplastic materials along a welded seam includes a welding assembly and a means for feeding the thermoplastic sheets to the working area of the welding assembly. The welding assembly includes a heated platen welding press coupled with a welding tool, an energy generator electrically connected to the welding tool and control means electrically connected to the welding press, the welding tool and the energy generator. The welding press includes a pair of opposed platens, means for heating each of the platens and pressing means for displacing at least one of the opposed platens in the thickness direction of the thermoplastic sheets. Pressure is applied to the thermoplastic sheets by using the pressing means to displace at least one of the heated platens in the thickness direction of the thermoplastic sheets. Heat produced by the heating means is then transferred to the thermoplastic sheets by the heated platens to raise the temperature of the thermoplastic sheets in the area of the welded seam to a first predetermined temperature which is below the softening temperature of the thermoplastic materials. High frequency energy produced by the energy generator is then conducted to the thermoplastic sheets by the welding tool to raise the temperature of the thermoplastic sheets in the area of the welded seam to a second predetermined temperature which is above the softening temperature but below the melt point of the thermoplastic materials. Conduction of the high frequency energy is then discontinued so that the thermoplastic sheets fuse together along the welded seam under applied pressure. Application of the pressure is then discontinued so that the welded thermoplastic sheets may be removed from the welding assembly.

摘要: An apparatus for thermally joining thermoplastic fiber composite components includes a pressurization arrangement for jointly covering, at least in a region of a joining zone, thermoplastic fiber composite components to be joined and applying pressure to the thermoplastic fiber composite components to press the thermoplastic fiber composite components against one another, at least in the joining zone, the pressurization arrangement being flexible, at least in some section or sections. A welding device is configured for welding the fiber composite components in the joining zone during pressurization. The pressurization arrangement and welding device are configured to weld the thermoplastic fiber composite components in a pressurized state in the joining zone. The pressurization arrangement is configured to maintain pressurization independently of the welding device until the joining zone solidifies. A cover is also disclosed for a pressurization device for thermally joining thermoplastic fiber composite components.

摘要: An exemplary air cushion inflation machine includes: a first terminal connected to a direct current input; a second terminal; a reference resistor powered by the direct current input; an op-amp; and a transistor. The first terminal of the op-amp is connected to a variable voltage source and the second terminal of the op-amp is connected to the reference resistor. The transistor has a base connected to an output of the op-amp, an emitter connected to the reference resistor, and a collector connected to a first terminal of a sealing band apparatus having first and second terminals. A meltable material placed between the first and second terminals is melted by resistance of current flowing between the first and second terminals. The variable voltage source changes voltage based on a voltage drop measured across the first and second terminals by a voltage measurement device and the constant current.

摘要: An apparatus for use in sealing layers of thermoplastic material together from one side of the layers includes a heat sealing electrode having a first conductive element mounted on a support and adapted to be connected to a source of high frequency energy, and a second conductive element mounted on the same support but in spaced general parallel relation to the first conductive element and adapted to be connected to an electrical ground. The conductive elements are electrically insulated from each other and, when they are applied to one side of the thermoplastic sheet material to be sealed and high frequency energy is supplied to the first electrode, a seal is formed in the material beneath and between the ends of the electrode elements.
