摘要: An extrusion apparatus including a die and a mask are provided such that no slots feed directly into the longitudinal skin forming gap between the mask and the die. In a method of forming a die adapted to improve skin uniformity of extruded cellular ceramic substrates a slotted block of die material is provided including central slots adapted to form a cellular matrix of the substrate and peripheral slots located outwardly of the central slots designed to be covered by a skin former mask and adapted to extrude peripheral batch material. An arcuate skin former is cut corresponding to a target shrinkage so as to intersect the slotted block such that skin flow from tangent slots at 90 degree positions of the die is limited to the peripheral batch material.

摘要: A metal pipe and method of forming the same with an integrally formed liner for use in corrosive and abrasive environment utilizes a liner formed of a comparatively thick polymer which is thermally bonded to the metal pipe. An intermediate polymer/adhesive layer is applied to the metal pipe to facilitate thermal/chemical bonding. The intermediate layer is preferably applied to the sheet metal in a pre-treatment process prior to roll forming ribs into the sheet metal. The polyethylene liner is applied after the pipe has been formed, to provide a smooth, hydraulically efficient surface which is resistent to the corrosive action of sulfuric acid and the like encountered in sanitary applications, as well as abrasion caused by the flow of water-born debris such as dirt and gravel as is encountered in culvert applications.

摘要: A method and apparatus for reinforcing and repairing piping are disclosed for forming a film on the inside of a pipe line. The apparatus includes a film forming device having spaced radially extending front and rear walls which is inserted within the pipe line. When so inserted, the apparatus and the inside surface of the pipe line define an annular space into which film forming material is introduced. This annular space can be used to straddle a cracked portion of the pipe line, a joint or other inadequately sealed areas in which leakage may occur. A film adjusting device comprising a rotary driving element and a rotary film adjusting element are provided and are flexibly connected to the film forming device. The rotary drive device includes a motor and spaced front and rear discs each of which is attached to a plurality of outwardly extending fragments. A hauling device is provided for moving both the film forming device and film adjusting device within the pipe line and an inspection device is provided to assist an operator in locating areas to which the film forming material must be carefully applied. The method comprises inserting the devices within a pipe line, moving them through the pipe line, applying film forming material to the inner surface of the pipe line and stopping the devices at potential leakage portions to properly reinforce these portions with film material.
