Abstract: Apparatus and methods of heating metallic containers in an oven which includes electric heating elements are provided. The electric heating elements include one or more of an electric induction element and an electric infrared heating element. Abstract: A can curing oven for curing one or more coatings on one or more surfaces of a sidewall of a number of can bodies includes a heating assembly having a number of induction heating units that define a space generally enclosed by the number of induction heating units. Each induction heating unit capable of producing a total effective amount of received heat needed to cure the coating on each can body. The curing oven further includes a conveyance arrangement for supporting and moving a number of can bodies along a workpath through the generally enclosed space among the number of induction heating units.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system for manufacturing a fully impregnated thermoplastic prepreg includes a mechanism for moving a fabric or mat and a drying mechanism that removes residual moisture from at least one surface of the fabric or mat. The system also includes a resin application mechanism that applies a reactive resin to the fabric or mat and a press mechanism that presses the coated fabric or mat to ensure that the resin fully saturates the fabric or mat. The system further includes a curing oven through which the coated fabric or mat is moved to polymerize the resin and thereby form a thermoplastic polymer so that upon exiting the oven, the fabric or mat is fully impregnated with the thermoplastic polymer. During at least a portion of the process, humidity in the vicinity of the coated fabric or mat is maintained at substantially zero.

Abstract: Described herein is multilayer article and methods of making thereof, wherein the multilayer article comprises: (a) metal substrate; (b) a first fluoropolymer layer having a thickness no more than 10 micrometers, wherein the first fluoropolymer layer consists essentially of a fluoropolymer comprising reactive groups, wherein when the fluoropolymer is a melt-processible fluoropolymer it comprises at least 30 reactive groups per 1,000,000 carbon atoms and when the fluoropolymer is a non-melt processible fluoropolymer it comprises more than 5 reactive groups per 1,000,000 carbon atoms; and (c) a second fluoropolymer layer having a thickness of about 10 to 1000 micrometers, wherein the first fluoropolymer layer is in contact with both the metal substrate and the second fluoropolymer layer.
