Abstract: The present invention provides a monolayer base film for hydraulic transfer printing that is excellent in water solubility and allows high resolution transfer printing without rupture even in high speed printing and a film for hydraulic transfer printing using the same. The present invention is a base film for hydraulic transfer printing comprising a polyvinyl alcohol resin, the base film forming a printing layer to be transferred to an article by hydraulic transfer printing. In this base film for hydraulic transfer printing, the base film for hydraulic transfer printing has an amount (A1) of crystalline component of 60% or less and an amount (A2) of constrained amorphous component from 10% to 50%, the amounts being obtained from a spin-spin relaxation curve by 1H pulse NMR measurement of the base film in deuterated methanol, and a moisture content from 1 to 5 mass %.

Abstract: Inkjet-printed articles have a topcoat composition on a substrate surface. This topcoat composition has (a) a water-soluble salt of a multivalent metal cation in an amount of 0.4-40 weight %; (b) a nonionic or cationic water-soluble or water-dispersible polymeric binder materials in an amount of 2-90 weight %; and (c) visible light-scattering particles that have been surface-treated so that the surface-treated visible light-scattering particles have a stable zeta potential of treater than +4 millivolts (mV) using a (f) dispersing aids. These surface-treated visible light-scattering particles are present in an amount of 6-90 weight %. The (f) dispersing aid is cationic in cumulative charge, and are present in the topcoat composition in an amount of 0.2-50 weight %, based on the total weight of the (c) surface-treated visible light-scattering particles. A monochrome or multicolor inkjet-printed layer or image is disposed over the topcoat composition.

Abstract: There is provided a laminate having excellent resistance to print removal and excellent abrasion resistance required in BS5609:1986 and also providing the excellent ink dryness. The laminate includes a substrate layer (A) and a formed resin layer (B) including a first porous sub-layer (B1) and a second porous sub-layer (B2). The substrate layer (A), the second porous sub-layer (B2), and the first porous sub-layer (B1) are laminated in this order. The first porous sub-layer (B1) contains a propylene-based polymer (d1), an ethylene-based polymer (PE resin) or acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS resin), and a filler (e1). The second porous sub-layer (B2) contains a propylene-based polymer (d2) and a filler (e2), and is free of a PE resin and an ABS resin. The content of the filler (e1) or (e2) in each porous sub-layer is 50 to 75 mass%.

Abstract: An extruded multilayer film includes a top layer comprising a blend of a polyolefin and adsorbent silica. The adsorbent silica is 5% or more of the blend and the polyolefin is 95% or less of the blend. The multilayer film is oriented in at least one direction to cause fracturing of the top layer to provide a microporous surface exposing the adsorbent silica gel. The fractured top layer is receptive to receiving a printing ink on an exposed surface thereof with enhanced pigment entrapment and rapid ink drying. A single layer film in the form of the top layer, and also oriented in at least one direction also constitutes a part of this invention.

Abstract: Provided is a decorative sheet in which a graphic is less deteriorated even after injection molding. First and second graphic layers contain a plurality of interference pigments that emit respective interference lights having respective colors in a first direction in first and second binders to exhibit first and second mixed colors. An optical functional layer changes a reflectance property of light. The first and second graphic layers represent a graphic visually recognizable from a front surface of a decorative sheet and allow visually recognizing an image displayed on a back surface from the front surface. The optical functional layer increases at least one of ratios of an amount of visible light representing the graphic and an amount of visible light representing the image that transmits through the first and second graphic layers to an amount of visible light reflected by and visible on the front surface.
