The invention provides a cyclone unit for the removal of contaminants from flue gases by combination of a gaseous stream with an aqueous stream, comprising a housing defined by a cylindrical peripheral wall, by upper and lower extremities, and by a core element, the housing having a longitudinal axis and being provided with at least one inlet opening for receiving a gaseous stream and a plurality of inlet openings for receiving an aqueous stream thereinto, the cyclone unit further comprising at least one swirling means concentrically positioned and mounted within the housing coaxially with the longitudinal axis so as to provide a first annular space between an inner surface of the housing peripheral wall and the outer facing surfaces of the swirling means and to provide a second inner annular space between inwardly facing surfaces of the swirling means and the core element, the swirling means incorporating a plurality of slit-like elongated openings extending substantially tangentially with respect to the inner annular space so as to enable angular passage from the first annular space towards the second inner annular space, wherein the cyclone unit is characterized in that the openings for receiving the aqueous stream are located in the upper extremity, and are positioned to inject at least most of the aqueous stream into the passages.

A dust collector (10) has a main body (12), the interior of which is divided by a tubular partition wall (26) into a central filtration chamber (30) and an outwardly-located annular cyclone chamber (32). At the upper part of the cyclone chamber (32), there is provided a water supply pipe (36) having radially directed nozzles (38) adapted to form a water film flowing down along the inner circumferential surface of the main body (12) and the-outer circumferential surface of the partition wall (26), respectively. Air to be treated is drawn under suction through an air intake (34) into the cyclone chamber (32) and swirling air is brought into contact with the water film whereby dust and particles are preliminarily collected while retaining an explosion-proof function. The cyclone chamber (32) and the filtration chamber (30) are communicated with each other at the lower portion thereof to permit the thus pretreated air to be drawn into the filtration chamber (30). Filters (44) are arranged in the filtration chamber (30) so as to further collect dust and particles by filtration. A small and compact dust collector capable of effectively collecting fine particles and small in air-flow resistance and pressure drop and having an excellent explosion-proof capability can be provided.

The method includes the steps of: feeding waste gas to an accommodating space; flowing a predetermined body of water in the accommodating space and generating the predetermined body of water including nano-bubbles; directing the waste gas mixed with the predetermined body of water including the nano-bubbles to a swirling unit; and discharging the treated gas waste. The predetermined body of water including the nano-bubbles is mixed with the waste gas so that the nano-bubbles of the predetermined water and the waste gas may be sufficiently subjected to the cavitation effect and supercritical water oxidation, and harmful substances such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen monoxide and other nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals and the like, of the waste gas may be removed.

The particle separation and collection assembly uses cyclonic forces to separate and remove large particles from an airstream and concentrate small particles for sensor/detector technology. This assembly utilizes multiple mini cyclones operating in parallel to reduce the size and velocity of air through the cyclone inlets while maintaining the same fluid or flow rate as compared to one large cyclone. The multiple cyclone system can be arranged in a radial geometry or in a bipolar or uni-polar longitudinal design. The particle separator and collection assembly uses a blower or vacuum pump to draw outside gas into the cyclone particle separator assembly through radial inlets. Vacuum transfer channels, extending the entire length of the assembly, pull gas into the top of the cyclone chambers and out through the bottom apex of cyclone chamber and through the top vortex finder. Gas entering the cyclone particle separation chambers from the inlet swirls downwardly through cyclone chambers due to the tangentially aligned inlet. The gas travels in a helical pattern downwardly toward the bottom of cyclone chambers. Some of the air carrying particles smaller than the cut reverses direction and leaves the cyclone through the top vortex finder. The rest of the air exits the cyclone at the bottom. The geometry of the cyclone determines particle “cut” size. Due to centrifugal forces, the particles larger than the “cut” size flow outwardly away from the center axis of the chambers and toward the walls of the respective chambers. Liquid is pumped into chamber from a liquid reservoir through the central liquid passage tube. This liquid wets the particles in chamber and washes down the chamber walls flushing the particles into the reservoir. The liquid is continuously recirculated through the conical chambers by the peristaltic pump thereby concentrating the particles within the liquid over time. The liquid then can be pumped to an optionally integrated monitoring system comprised of detectors and/or sensors. The monitoring system then can send out a warning if toxic microorganisms are present.

The dilution water hydrocyclone further includes a flow director disposed between the dilution water inlet and the reject slurry inlet and operable to direct the flow of dilution water from the dilution water inlet in at least an axial direction towards the cyclonic flow section.
