摘要: A system includes a catalyst for receiving and treating exhaust gas generated by an engine, a passive NOx adsorber (PNA) positioned upstream of the catalyst, a bypass valve positioned upstream of the catalyst and the PNA, and a controller. The controller is configured to: while controlling the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the PNA, detect a torque demand that is greater than a threshold value; responsive to detecting that the torque demand is greater than the threshold value, engage a motor, coupled with a battery system, with a drive shaft of the system to meet at least a portion of the torque demand; in response to the engagement of the motor with the drive shaft not meeting all of the torque demand, engage the engine with the drive shaft to meet a remainder of the torque demand.

摘要: A dual function material is provided that captures carbon dioxide from ambient air, i.e., direct air capture, and converts the CO2 to a desired product such as methane. The material includes a high surface area carrier such as Al2O3 upon which catalysts and alkaline adsorbents are positioned proximate each other. In the presence of reactive gas such as hydrogen, the catalysts reduce the adjacent adsorbents to generate additional active sites and enhance the amount of CO2 captured by the material. Once the material becomes saturated with CO2, hydrogen is reintroduced to reduce the catalyst, such as ruthenium, at which time the adsorbed CO2 can migrate from the adsorbent to the catalyst for catalytic conversion to methane. The materials can be employed in isothermal, cyclic reactor systems where target species are bound and then desorbed to reactivate the material, e.g., bind more target species for desorption and/or conversion to additional product.

The controller is configured to, determine that the catalyst is operating under cold start conditions, control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the PNA, determine that the catalyst is no longer operating under cold start conditions and continue to control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the PNA for a predetermined duration, and after the elapse of the predetermined duration, control the bypass valve to direct exhaust gas to the catalyst bypassing the PNA. The controller is also configured to detect a high transient torque demand while the exhaust gas is provided to the PNA, and split the torque demand between the engine and an electric motor.

摘要: The invention discloses a method for preparing a chlorine adsorption material for use in waste incineration and application of the chlorine adsorption material. The chlorine adsorption material adsorptive for chlorine-based substances during the waste incineration is prepared by mixing raw materials which include natural iron ores and quartz stones, and modifying the iron ores and the quartz stones with CaO through an ultrasonic impregnation method. The prepared chlorine adsorption material has a large pore size, a high porosity and a stable structure, and shows higher adsorption efficiency and adsorption capacity for the chlorine-based substances during the waste incineration. The use of the low-cost natural iron ores and quartz stones can reduce the cost in processing the chlorine-based substances, make great use of resources and facilitate environment protection.

摘要: Methods for utilizing waste products of the steel industry are provided that utilize spent pickle liquor to recover valuable alkaline earth metals from low value wastes with significant calcium content in the form of insoluble oxide, hydroxides, and/or salts are provided, as well as methods for generating a ferric oxide hydroxide composite from steel slag. Suitable raw materials include slag from steel manufacturing and ash from various operations. Ferric oxide hydroxide composite materials described herein can be used for removal of sulfur and metals from contaminated materials. Accordingly, compositions and methods of the inventive concept introduce considerable value to low value waste materials that would otherwise be discarded. In addition, compositions and methods of the inventive concept serve to reduce waste streams from industrial processes.
